    I remember reading a post about a way to improve ffxi graphics. I can't seem to find it now of course, could someone give me a link? Thanks!

    Whats gonna be the best place to solo the 400 arcana mobs for the Magian scythe trial?

    Im gonna try to get a party together to kill dolls in sky, but if thats not an option, Id like to be able to solo some as well.

    Ro'maeve has a bajillion weapons, dolls, and pots, most of them level 60ish, and you can get Field of Valor to boot.

    Ro'Maeve should be easy enough to solo, but you'll find others there to party with for sure. Do FoV there at the same time.. I pulled about three merits while doing them and another one on the Hippogryphs afterward.

    I always expect EP undeads to aggro, but I can't be sure that's the case. Also, ofc, assume you had 'white' hp. Otherwise, doesn't seem new to me. Others might disagree.
    You'll aggro anything above level 59. Certain areas of mobs put in higher level areas are usually designed to be within the range of x to 59, or 60+, which heralds safe areas vs unsafe areas (or mob clusters). One example are the demons after you drop all the way to the bottom of one of the beastman pits in castle Z in the present. Those go up to 59 but won't aggro you. Anything 60+ will (at 75).

    Edit: your specific example explains why some aggro and some don't; 59-62 level range.

    New weapon (D+17 delay +140 occ att x2)

    Assumption : full usukane, /nin brutal.
    pdif : merit-like pdif => 1.3 non crit, 2.3 crit, 1.6 asuran fists
    mods : 110 str 75 vit for asuran
    crit : 10%
    asuran fists : gorget
    fstr : cap (10)

    95% accuracy for melee and asuran.

    average rounds till 100 tp : 4.9898

    asuran fists damage is therefore 8.1*(35+17+10+0.83*0.10*(110+75))*1.6*0.95
    melee damage per round is therefore 0.95*(2.6*(35+17+10)*pdif1+0.15*(35+8 )*pdif1) where pdif1 is the pdif average given by crit and non crits :
    pdif1=1.3*0.9+0.1*2.3
    (the 2.6 in the formula commes from 2 punch, 5% DA/fists, 50% occ att twice)

    The damage per second of this weapon is threrfore

    (0.95*(2.6*(35+17+10)*pdif1+0.15*(35+8 )*pdif1)*4.989877194+8.1*(35+17+10+0.83*0.10*(110+ 75))*1.6*0.95)/(440*4.989877194)*60=56.43 dmg/s

    Destroyers

    average round till 100 tp : 7.364
    Adapt the above formulae with 16% crit on non kicks
    pdif1=1.3*0.84+0.16*2.3
    pdif0:=1.3*0.9+2.3*0.10

    (0.95*(2.1*(35+21+10)*pdif1+0.15*(35+8 )*pdif0)*7.364+8.1*(35+21+10+0.83*0.10*(110+75))*1 .6*0.95)/(348*7.364)*60=55.73 dmg/s

    conclusion : none at this point, the difference is relying a lot on the actual proc rate of the "occ att twice". With the above 50% assumption you get a weapon 1.3% better than destroyers ("only"). If you do the math with a 45% assumption it's now 56.0 dps vs 55.7... So at this point I'd rather spend my play time farming virtue stones than camping retarded NMs for a weapon that in the end is worse than hades for tanking and faith for pure DD.
    How are you getting the rounds per 100 tp here? It makes decent logical sense that you would be getting fewer rounds per 100 with DA and such but I can't work out the math for it to run numbers on other OAT weapons myself.

    Edit: Just so you can see my logic here's what I had worked out for the polearm, D76 Delay 507 OAT:

    ((0.95 * (1.50 * (76 + 10) * 1.65) * 7.24) + (5.1 * (76 + 10 + (0.83 * 0.20 * (110 + 110))) * 1.65 * 0.95)) / ((507 * 7.24) / 60)
    = 39.9398119

    That's just checking tp/hit against 100 tp to find out how many rounds you need to reach 100. I assumed erroneously that the hit multiplier only had to be adjusted, and the rounds per 100 wouldn't change, but any extra hits should logically bring the rounds to 100 down...otherwise you're just going way the hell over 100 TP each time at the 7/8 round mark.

    This would make the OAT pole worlds ahead of any other option except maybe relic lol, if it's accurate.

    Judging that Nightfall and Fourth Division Mantle are 1 TP/Tick each and I'm WAR/SAM using Store TP food. Will this set get me a 4 hit build in Campaign Battle only?

    Not interested in outside Campaign as I have decent sets for that.

    I've read a few places that the defense rating on a shield directly influences dmg mitagations during blocks. That being said... totally speculation but defenitly random...

    If later it is possible to augment the defense rating on Aegis what would +5 defense do ? +10?

    Edit: I've read the wiki page for aegis that says 1 def = .5% reduction but reading what the rest of the page says I'm not very confident in wiki's numbers.

    If you want to know the exact number of attack rounds needed to reach 100TP with this polearm, I could compute it later for u. There isnt an exact formula because it's an algorithme i've progammed to calculate it (it basically corrects the number of rounds needeing taking tp overflow into account). Just to fix things up, with this delay ( 507) you've got a true 5 hit or true 6 hit or false?

    Well, in this case I've got the data for true 6 hits at least, from my SAM simulations. Just need to input the double attack rate, zanshin rate, accuracy... and it outputs an average number of rounds... So if you assume the OAT+ brutal earring give 55% double attack ( too lazy to think about that), and if you start from a fresh TP return acceptable for 6 hit, then:

    6 hit build with 100% acc, 0% DA is.... 5 rounds needed to rach 100TP. ( of course)
    6 hit build with 95% acc, 0% DA is.... 5.26 rounds. ( of course: 5/0.95=5.26)
    6 hit build with 95% acc and 5% DA is ... 5.057882814 rounds.
    6 hit build with 95% acc and 5% DA 45% zanshin is..... 4.956086250 rounds.
    6 hit builds with 95% acc, 50% DA and 0 % zanshin is...3.735743525 rounds.
    6 hit builds with 95% acc, 50% DA and 45 % zanshin is... 3.706008455 rounds.
    6 hit builds with 95% acc, 55% DA and 0 % zanshin is... 3.632298274 rounds.
    6 hit builds with 95% acc, 55% DA and 45 % zanshin is... 3.606831255 rounds.

    If OAT and DA are considered separately by the game then i need to know what actual DA rate 50% OAT and 5% DA gives.

    Edit: ok 50% OAT+5%DA is equivalent to 52.5% DA so
    6 hit builds with 95% acc, 52.5% DA and 0 % zanshin is... 3.683117084 rounds.
    6 hit builds with 95% acc, 52.5% DA and 45 % zanshin is... 3.655577608 rounds.

    edit: apparently zanshin from SJ is 25%....

    6 hit builds with 95% acc, 52.5% DA and 25 % zanshin is... 3.667764258 rounds.

    it should be 52.5% : out of 100 normal swings, 50 will be added form OAT and not benefit from any DA while the other 50 with benefit from 5% DA rate, making them 50*1.05=52.5, so ... 1.525 total ?

    and zanshin sould be 25% as SJ /think.

    So how do you reach that conclusion on number of rounds? I mean, yes, ok, I get that it looks at extra swings per time and then trims down anything in excess of 100 TP, that's what I'm trying to do!

    I've just been exploring all the different weapon possibilities and would like to be able to get good results back out of it.

    you do a simulation with a program. Genrerate a random variable that gives a certain number of hits ( in our case 0,1 or 2) with the same probabilities as if you had 95% acc 52.5% DA and 25% zanshin. then do a loop with like 100K attack rounds or whatever high enough, and set a counter to count the number of WS you do, divide and output your average number of rounds untill 100 TP. Like I said there is not exact forumla for this becaus ethere is so many variables. So for your comparison teh two number you need to know are:

    DRG/SAM, 95% acc 25% Zanshin, 5% DA 6 hit build, average: 5.000818765 rounds till 100TP.
    DRG/SAM, 95% acc 25% Zanshin, 52.5% DA 6 hit build, average: 3.667764258 rounds till 100TP.
