Yes, you can have your character restored.
http://www.playonline.com/ff11us/crs/
You'll be doing this through the Square Enix Support Center. Be ready to contact them, specifically, throughout the process. GMs =/= Support Center.
EDIT: Since you referred to some sort of character recovery, you may be talking about the website linked above. This is still the service you will be using, even if not through the web. You'll want to read all of its terms, restrictions, et cetera, before contacting the Square Enix Support Center (http://support.na.square-enix.com/).
-1% MDT or +4 INT? Assume shell 4 + -15%ish MDT in gear
The fight has three steps to it: killing the adds, killing the bugard, and killing the boss.
My group was, I believe, 5 people. Our first attempt was a loss as we tried to keep the adds slept and work on the bugard first; this takes too long, and the mages couldn't handle resleeping 6 angry mobs while dealing with keeping us and Excenmille alive. The plan that ended up working was having a nin take the bugard, a blm slept the adds, with a whm to keep Excenmille alive, a blu (myself) took on the adds and we had a fifth (sam? can't remember, a dd) to help me out.
If you wait too long, Excenmille will charge the mobs on his own and this can mess up timing on sleeps and whatnot. I believe we opened with sleepga on everything, nin grabbed bugard and pulled it way far away and started working on it. Excenmille charged the boss straight off and had hate pretty quickly; I don't know if he always does this or if we just got lucky. Our whm kept him from dying but it will drain your mp at a sharp rate.
The blm kept everything slept and the fifth and I started working through the adds, blms first, then wars. They have pretty low hp, each going down after 1-3 spells on blu. Unless you have a full group though, odds are some will be waking up before you can deal with them all; they hit hard, especially against mages, so the blm has to be prepared for it.
When adds went down we moved and helped the ninja kill the Bugard; the whm was getting tapped out at this point so the blm switched to keeping Excenmille alive and let the whm rest. Once the bugard was down we started on Doggvdegg; Excenmille will probably have hate the entire time, just keep him alive and wear him down. If you've got the boss alone you've basically won.
That was our run. Unfortunately I don't see how it could be trioed; everything hits for decent damage if not on you, then on Excenmille, which is just as bad. At minimum you need someone to handle the Bugard, someone to work crowd control, someone to keep Excen from dying; then, the more people to work through the adds the better. On top of that your mages are going to be busy with Excenmille so self-sufficiency is good; the melee were basically on their own with a few magic fruits for my fight, since any mp spent curing us shortens the window before Excenmille gets stomped.
Did this with 6, but we were mage heavy. The party was mnk, mnk, smn, rdm, and I can't remember the other two. We basically had the rdm sleepga the mobs while me and the other mnk 2 hour all the little small mobs, and the smn kind of just kited and tanked the boss. I want to stress that the regular mobs don't have a lot of HP and they do go down fast. Me and the mnk was able to clear all the room except for the bugard and the boss. Bugard went down fast and we had the npc just tank the boss after we got done. The boss really isn't hard, except that his defense boost is pretty potent. We were hitting the NM for zero when it was on. Other than that it's pretty damn easy.
Did this a few days ago with 5. sam/nin blu/nin brd/whm rdm/blm whm/sch.
Basically the same strategy as others have mentioned. Rdm will sleepga, sam + blu on bugard -> blms -> wars -> boss. Brd helps to sleep/cure too. Whm focuses on Excenmille. Doesn't seem hard. Blu has a tizona and brd has a gjallarhorn though but shouldn't be needed. Went 1/1 so knowledge is limited on that fight.
The answer will depend on the base damage of the spell, but I will try and find a sensible turning point. You mention shell 4, so I will assume this is RDM soloing MDT build?
4INT will be 4 less base damage x Monster MAB / Player MDB
Player MDB (as RDM) will be at least 12 (although likely to be 14+, with AFv2 hands etc). Monster MAB is a little bit of an unknown (at least I don’t know it) so I am going to pick 2 (semi) random points and draw conclusions from that.
Assuming the mob has no native MAB
(4*(1/1.12))*(1-0.37) = 2.25 damage reduction
1% MDT will be around 1.5% reduction in overall damage taken, so we can work back to the damage where 1.5% = 2.25 damage. This comes out to ~150. So -1% is better
Assuming the mob has 32 MAB
(4*(1.32/1.12))*(1-0.37) = 2.97 damage reduction
1% MDT will be around 1.5% reduction in overall damage taken, so we can work back to the damage where 1.5% = 2.97 damage. This comes out to ~200.
Which is better
-1% MDT is better in any situation where the nuke is going to do over ~250-400 damage before you wear and MDT/MDB gear. Which are the only cases that matter really.
does hollow earring realy works for drain sambas ?
was just reading about it .

Probably a stupid question but just wanna know for sure before I dump merits into things. Just got 75 SCH, less than a day ago.
5/5 Modus Veritas duration.
5/5 Max Sublimation
5/5 Enlightenment (?)
5/5 Stormsurge (?)
Wondering if any of the other T2 merits are worth getting. Maybe the Macc would be good but my gear is pretty decent, I think.
i dont know if im understanding your question correctly but here is a list of staple jobs in each ENM. too many BCNMs so im gonna keep the list short for that.
ENMs:
30 ENM - promy
WAR,WHM,BLM
40 ENM - riverne/shrouded maw
NIN, WAR, WHM, RDM, BLM
50 ENM - promy vazhl (riverne not sure)
WAR can solo it with meds and /sam, so WAR
BCNMs:
40 pcharm
NIN, RDM
50 mimic
NIN (open and mijin!!!)
RDM (open and SC WARP!!!!)
ive seen it happen before a few times, last year.
i dont really know how this happens and why suddenly it starts attacking.
at first i was guessing, it didnt register me on the hate list because i threw it from far away, but it would suddenly attack me even when i didnt cast/hit/any hate creating action on it. seems like a pure glitch rising from the special claim method.
- Should 6-hit, yes. You'd need a tiny bit more for a true 6-hit (7STP + /SAM, total of 22) with a 504 delay GAxe, but you're correct in that setup netting you one landing 2 WS hits.
- NQ Heca hands/feet & a 5 DEX ring should put you at 117 DEX, which I think is the target there.
- I'd say Bomblet first. It's a good chunk of ACC for the relative cost. Heca, unless going for HQ, is probably worth doing next. Blitz you'd want to be very good on ACC already before swapping, but the cost is certainly lower for an Aggresor set at least. Chuchu > Haub+1 > Toreador's though.
- Haub isn't just for ACC, it's ATT as well. Same consideration with your KJ set now I'd say.
- Bomb Core/Fire Bomblet, Blitz/ACC ring, possibly Forager's/Chuchlain's if not going for crits, etc. Hard to say exactly, as it'd depend on target mobs.
- While you -could- make something with your ACP body, WAR really has enough options already. Haub/+1 covers quite a lot.
Otherwise:
Rune Chopper is a good build to look at for low-cost WAR optimizing. If you can get the right support for it (IE, Refresh), you can cap gear haste, even swapping out things like Walahra -> Askar.
Aurum Sabatons would be a solid, relatively easy to get upgrade for your TP set. At the high end, Dusk +1 become preferable, but without already very high ACC, the ACC/DEX on those is better. Good for DRG if you don't have Homam as well.
Shoot for using meat. Crab sushi on birds is for polearm builds, not for A+ 2h weapons.
IMO, if Man/Joy doesn't work, then the mobs are evasive/defensive enough that you should probably use GAxe anyway. No real need for a middle ground DW build. For the times needing to /nin on WAR, it's still usually best to use GAxe, yes?
In the times needing to DW, I usually do Man/Jugg, but since I got Joy, is Man/Joy the best to use in all DW situations (more or less)?
Some people don't feel Max Sub is worth it, gonna depend on race. If it's obvious which race you are from your avatar or sig, sorry - I can't see them.
A lot of people go Helix Magic Acc./Atk. and some Modus Veritas for Group 1 and then 5/5 Stormsurge, at least one in Enlightenment and then either the Light magic ENM down or Focalisation (the MAcc for Black Magic).
This thread http://www.bluegartr.com/forum/showthread.php?t=55476 is a good place to look.
If I save up 8000 isp and get a Sentinel Shield, should I be using it just for /nin?
Surely you should be able to cap recast timers without it?
