What gear sets would a DRK/NIN need to be able to tank? Same as PLD gear sets?

Same as a NIN except for stuff DRK can wear and NIN can't and vice versa. DRK should also have a dark magic set (pluto's, dark magic skill gear). Just the basics, enmity/haste on Bind/Sleeps, haste and thunder staff on Stun, idle in PDT/fast cast/refresh, have an MDT set, etc. Also I carry TP gear for Souleater for when SEing is safe.

What weapons do you use? Scythe/GS, or Chainsaw sword +1s? My impression was that DRK/NIN tanks were beneficial in that they could DD fairly well while tanking.

Spells you cast are generally Stun, Absorb-TP, and Absorb-Acc (depending if you need the Acc or not), right?

Yeah, they are. To the Bravura guy, which body did you use for 89% acc? I'm sure that can be explained because of the Chigoes rather than deficiencies in gear, as my warrior has less acc than you (no relic!) yet consistently parses at capped acc in Ein unless mobs are abnormally evasive.

Not particularly, unless you're really lowmanned, and need the extra dd to overcome regen or to kill something before rage, in which case it's about on par with sam. It's certainly not a bad tank job, but it's not great either. It's good for pretty much the same reason sam is, being a bit more self sufficient with drains, dread spikes, etc, though doing a bit less damage. And of course it can hold hate with spells if needed, unlike sam.

One of the main purposes for DRK/NIN is the ability to SE or even SE/BW zerg, both mid-fight and the end. Makes a useless tank spot into something amaznig.

Meh. DRK = PLD that can't cure themselves, but does much more damage in return. If you don't need the excess curing, no reason not to use DRK/NIN for lowman(or SAM if applicable).

a good oshit, a dark magic and maybe a fire set. I've tanked every mob in the game as drk\nin albeit with an apoc and i can safely say I've outclassed every other co-tank i've ever had. plus the blms love it when u abs-int on timmy

You don't really need to zerg bv1. I did it with rdm, sam, sam, brd. We took it slow and steady, and had no trouble with it.

What would be a good set to go with for lolRDM melee?

Mostly I do campaign (I'm aware merit pt's would gain much more but I got so tired of pt'ing with gimmps and idiots I'm stopping for a while, aside from ls only parties.), but with the magian trials I think putting together a decent set instead of mostly stacking haste may be better.

Have Justice Sword and plenty of stones, dusk hands/feet, w.turban and goliard saio for haste items. Have a few other odds and ends too, but overall I know my melee set is meh.

This is my RDM Melee set for /PLD in Campaign and I do fairly well. Live through almost anything and melee pretty quick for WS frequency.
