They've actually been running trailers for it on UK TV - which is fairly rare unless a game involves shooting people or is a SE game.

Annoyingly it means my husband reverts to doing Glados impressions... every single time.

We've had Portal 2 billboards off Los Angeles highways for a month now. The marketing push has been huge.

They're counting down the potatoes at slightly faster than 10 potatoes/second. Napkin math shows we'll be out of potatoes in ~11 hours. The significance of a 3 hour difference (2.5 if they ever finish filling up the Audiosurf bar) is the difference between a 1am Tues. morning launch and actually having time to play this game before having to go to bed for work the next day. But here's hoping something else changes before the potatoes run out.

Portal was far and away the best part of the Orange Box. Portal 2 is looking like the first game but prettier and much, much harder.

My only real concern with it is that the original Portal was actually very short (challenges/etc aside)...and that's actually a strength of it. Nary a pixel or sound clip is wasted.

As an addition to the already-cheap Orange Box, it had few expectations to meet. Portal 2, as a follow-up, and carrying a full retail price, has high expectations to live up to. Which it probably will, given that it's Valve, but still.

That said, if you haven't played the first one...despite Valve literally giving it away free on multiple occasions...you should give it a whirl. It's only maybe 2-3 hours to play through (again, other than challenges).
