I think the premise of the game is fun. funny dialogue in portal 1 is why it was such a hit. A ricky gervais-type brit comic is the hit of portal 2. I got portal 1 for free on steam during some special and have yet to complete. It's not that I am dumbfounded by the game, the game play simply did not hold my interest enough to push through to the finish just for the story ending. The sequel looks just as funny, but I would NEVER pay full game price for a sitcom's worth of entertainment. In a yr, I might drop 9.99, in the meantime, i see all steam titles priced in accordance to the way they charge $30 for a TF2 gear set, the way they have addicts paying $50 a pop for keys that open crates for in game skins... I have 0 respect for valve games since they have become game whores. the simple fact is, this game is overpriced, the orange box was underpriced. somewhere between, the company staff was replaced by pimps and whores.

Yay beaten. The dynamic music + the final surprise = heart pumping in a way that hasn't happened to me since the first portal. Sooo gooooood.

Sticking to single-player since PSN is down, meaning no online co-op, nor linking it up with my Steam account so I could just play it with friends on my PC instead. So far, hasn't failed to impress. I'm not used to this level of attention to detail in games these days, usually modern games recycled the hell out of everything to maintain their budget, but Valve just went all fucking out on this one. Best part is that this also sets some higher expectations for Episode 3, as all the cinematic moments I've seen so far in Portal 2 outclass anything of that in Half-Life2/Ep1&2.


Am glad that the game runs almost without a hitch on the PS3 port. FPS has yet to dip on me, load times are decent for a PS3 game that doesn't install to the hard drive (granted it appears to be making use of the system cache), and visuals are nice and crisp, although texture detail levels seem to be what appears to be the equivalent of 'medium' on source games for PC.

Dunno if anyone posted this yet but in the 2nd floor of the place where you find GladOS as a potato battery, there's a door that takes you back to a big "dock" area where a ship used to be, and there's lifesavers scattered around with "Borealis" on them. Was a pretty nice little tie-in.

Finished this about an hour ago. 2 sittings and I beat it. It Mass Effect 3 wasn't coming out this year, I'd call this game of the year. Or a major contender at the very least. Yeah still early, but damn what a fantastic game.

Weasley takes you to the trap with the crushing spike panels and after you escape hes like "Hey come back!" I turned around and came back and he was like "Oh... you came back? Well I didn't really plan for you to come back and there is no way to reset this trap so if you could me a huge favor just jump into this bottomless pit here..."

If you actually do it, you get the pit boss achievement.

so since i didn't get to finish the developers commentary since my ps3 wont read anything anymore, but i got to chapter 7 and some of the things they explained (like how they did the opening sequence) it really blew my mind they were able to do that on all 3 systems and still make it look as good as it does on ps3 and 360. there were a few parts i overlooked until they explained it in the commentary, like facial movement for the robots, there were so many small details they put in the game that i enjoyed playing it a second time to get trophies just to find the small details and easter eggs.

one thing i hate about the commentary mode is you cant save, and there's no checkpoints so if you die then you have to start the ENTIRE chapter over, made me rage a few times when i died in the middle of a puzzle i shouldn't of died at (because of portal placement or something else stupid) now i just need to get my ps3 fixed so i can do some co-op...
