If the events of the co-op campaign are any indication, GladOS hasn't lost that 'surge of emotion' given her rather frantic tone of voice near the end of the co-operative testing initiative. I prefer to believe she either lied or failed to completely delete Caroline's influence.

I have been wondering this for awhile. Personally I'd assume she did since it seems like the computer takes over a person's personality, after all look at how long it took Wheatley before he became evil. As for the Co-Op that's kind of a tough one. It also makes me wonder why she wanted the humans when she said she was going to phase out human testing in the single player campaign.

Pretty sure Co-Op is after Single Player

During one of the test chambers (Forgot which) she does mention something about 2 people she had to get rid of or something like that, can't remember the exact lines but pretty sure she was talking about Chell and Wheatley. Though it's still a bit of a loophole since if she did phase out human testing why did she go to all the trouble of having ATLAS/P-Body rescue the humans just to test on them?

EDIT: Hmm, according to the HL wiki GLaDOS decided to go back to human test subjects since "Testing on robots isn't the same", I might have to replay through Co-Op again. Assuming there is a way to wipe my progress.

GLaDOS mentions going back to human testing since there's no real risk or threat with robot testing. If they die, they simply are recreated with minimal downtime.

Makes sense. If I could play through Co-Op again I would, however because of how the game works I can't wipe my data and I really don't want to spoil the game for someone new to Co-Op. I felt like I nearly ruined it for Kwijiboe since I was in the 3rd series of test chambers when we started up co-op.

There's a level select for co-op.

Before the events of Half-Life, Aperture Science was a defense contractor competing with Black Mesa. One of their inventions is a gun which can shoot portals which create a shortcut in space between two oval-shaped windows, while preserving momentum. Now that shit has gone down with the Combine, the facilities have been abandoned by human staff. All that is left are cryogenically suspended test subjects and a megalomaniacal AI that wants nothing more than to perform scientific experiments using these subjects and the portal gun.
