I'm surprised this scene offends this father but not the one where GlaDOS pretend to call your parents. She fakes the voice of the operator who says something like 'your original parents never loved you', and then explains that's why they abandoned you. That seems worse to me then Wheately's bad, but funny, attempt to demoralize you.

my god, the lighting and shadows, the geometry, the level design, this game is ridiculous and the graphics are fucking amazing for the half-life 2 engine

what's funny is, this game looks better than Fallout 3 and FO3 uses a (technically) vastly superior engine

Beat single player last night. Really enjoyed the game from start to finish, though I didn't think it was that hard. Nothing really stumped me for longer than a handful of minutes and I only had to look things up maybe 3-4x the entire game. And most of it was in the middle of the game when I was still learning stuff (and by looking stuff up I mean like a single portal placement, I figured the rest of the puzzle out myself). Took me about 2 play sessions to beat single player and almost done w/ coop w/ a friend.

Ending was pretty epic. Wheatly stole the show from the start of the game to the end, such an awesome character / voice acting.

Wheatly was a great character, but Cave Johnson is what really won me over. Not even in the game and still still extremely well. The way Valve integrated him as a walk though was just brilliant imo. Also all the subtle jokes he threw in were great, going from Olympians and Astronauts in the first test to guys off the street who just want $60 bucks! How does another $60 bucks sound? All we need to do is take all your bones out, tweek them a bit, and put them all back! Now, we quite qualified for it, honestly, you should be paying us for it. (Completely off the top of my head, but one of his lines was like that). Though, always really liked J.K. Simmons.

Saw that earlier. That guy did some pretty clever things and had pretty good execution to pull a lot of them off, but the majority of chambers he just beat with some pretty game breaking glitches. The turret reset thing I'd say is okay, and the re-portal boosting thing is pushing it, but the excursion funnel one just makes it so he can float from beginning to end without any actual solving taking place. So some of the earlier chambers were cool, but the later ones weren't very impressive with those glitches.

i loved all his dialogue, pretty much every word of it was pure genius. lemons was awesome, but I was probably laughing just as hard with his blue-paint control group stuff, and the don't-visualize-it advice. so good

He's talking about the excursion tunnel glitch where he literally just flies through a room skipping the entire puzzle. It's not a cheat, but it's still not impressive. He does it at like 8:15.

Yeah the noclip was fine, the excursion tunnel thing was like a 1 size fits all solution to a lot of the later chambers he does.
