    Laptop

    I have a 7+ month old laptop that I would like to hold onto for a little longer up to a year maybe. I am willing to throw out ~300-400 to hold onto it. If its not worth it just tell me

    Specs are as follows

    Intele(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU T6500 @ 2.10GHz 2.10GHz

    Installed memory(RAM): 4.00GB

    GPU: Mobile Intele(R) 45 Express Chipset Family (microsoft Corporation - WDDM1.1)

    OS: Windows 7 ultimate

    I know for a fact that the motherboard limits it to that GPU, cant do anything about that. Is there anything I can do to help it with gaming at all? I dont use it very often as my desktop works much better. However from time to time I cant use my desktop and I would like if this could be used as a back up and run my games well.

    Anything would be great ~_~ I dont think there is much I can do but worth asking.

    More often than not, you can't upgrade GPUs on a Laptop. That's the sort of thing you select when you buy the laptop (online that is, I dont know about brick and mortar).

    Only things you can really do with that are adding more RAM and maybe putting in a stronger hard drive, but with integrated graphics you're pretty much boned on gaming capabilities.

    ya that is sorta what I was scared of ~_~ upgrading to 8 GIG of ram might be a tad up there for little return. Ah ill take a look at it anyways thanks for the bad new ; ;

    edit: Anyone know where I could find the Ram for this PC? I looked on Newegg and all I could find was a 3rd party one that has 3 stars and tends not to work With my laptop >.>

    677Mhz, Pc2-6400, DDR2 SDRAM Small outline dual in line Memory Module (SODIMM) RoHS: Modified
    part number 511871-001

    also dont like the idea that somehow a laptop 4G ram stick only goes for 120 seems kida cheap.

    Going from 4 to 8 is not gonna make a huge difference if you're still being limited by the other elements of your computer. A fair portion of games are still x86 based, which means they can't even that extra ram. You'd only notice a difference if you're running alot of programs together, like firefox and whatnot in the background, at which point your available cpu cycles becomes the next limit (which is even more of a case when you don't have a dedicated gpu to offload some duties off to).

    Looks like I will just have to deal with this laptop till I get around to saving money for a new one. Thanks for the heads up.
