Getting my first tattoo

Oh it's definitely realistic to pass out during a tattoo lol. It's not a big deal, just don't be an idiot and starve yourself before you go. The guy I go to will not tattoo anyone that is drunk either, but that's just common sense.

Also, don't hold your fucking breath, you aren't getting shot.... it's just a tattoo. The little bitch that was getting his tattoo before me passed out from holding his breath and not realizing it haha. Had to wait an extra 1/2 hour b/c of that shit lol. I would have understood if it was on his side or some place tender. Dude was getting a sun tattoo on his calf.

The artist knows it's your first tattoo. He will more than likely do a few short lines on you before he goes to work. That way you at least have an idea of what to expect.

Got it almost 4 days ago, and I have yet to see scabbing / peeling. The "sunburnt" pain is almost gone too, and the tattoo looks awesome. How long should I wait to see the scabbing / peeling. It itches TINY bit, but not that much.

Mine have all taken about a week to scab and then another 2 weeks or so for the scabs to completely fall off. Seems to vary for most people, though.

Anyone ever have an outline done by one artist, but the detail/color done by another? I need to get my scorpion tat finished but my artist moved. I need ~30 minutes of detail around the tail and the whole thing to be colored in.

Got it almost 4 days ago, and I have yet to see scabbing / peeling. The "sunburnt" pain is almost gone too, and the tattoo looks awesome. How long should I wait to see the scabbing / peeling. It itches TINY bit, but not that much.

It's just like any open wound. It takes awhile for it to start scabbing because you are supposed to be keeping it moist for at least the first week. I'd say at the end of the two week care process, that's when it'll start to scab. Sooner if you let it get dry too often. It should start flaking/peeling at the end of the healing process, about 3wks to a month. The itching hasn't even started yet. I have a full back piece and I wanted to rip my skin off there at the end. It is so annoying to have an itch you know you can't scratch! I want pictures!

And it is completely realistic to pass out during a tattoo. I see it at least every couple of weeks. Mainly newbs that don't know what to expect, but it does happen. You should ask your brother.

Sol: I have not had work done personally by more than one artist, but one of our artist left and the rest of us have had to mete out her clients. We try to get a piece that is as close to our own style as possible and get the general idea of what was wanting to be accomplished. If it is something straightforward, there shouldn't be a problem. Talk to the artist first and get them to draw out a stencil to make sure it is something that goes with the rest of the piece. If they really want your business, they won't mind the couple of minutes of extra work.

Sol I'm getting something somewhat similar done in a couple of weeks- getting something done around the outline of an older one. I went in and met with the artist on Friday, and she took a lot of pictures and asked a lot of questions to make sure we were on the same page. Going back a week from this Friday to get started (it's about a 6 hour job, splitting into two sessions).

Scabbing is actually something that might not happen, (varies from artist pressure vs your skin and w/e). So don't feel bummed cuz you didn't scab, other way around be happy a bad scab and it falling off before healing will leave a mark on your tat.

I have a friend who had JUSTICE written across his back and had the shading finished by his brother's bf. He had no complaints and it looks pretty cool.

I would shop around and ask. I've been shopping around to get my 3 box tatt on my arm (black box, infinite symbol and a fleur-de-lis).

I got a tattoo about four years ago, and it's still pretty painful. It healed really fast iirc, and I don't remember much irritation. I take care of it, but it's raised in places and feels like the inked area is burning. Oh well...I got a pretty cool moogle tattoo out of it!

Yeah sounds like an allergic reaction to the ink to me. Sucks if that is the case. Most common allergic reactions are to colored inks.
