I have killed both RDM and PLD king and casted on them both, including the Queens and have not raged them EVER. The only time they ever raged for any group I was in that had magic casted on them was after we took too long after they 2hr'd. We had wiped for some dumb reason and we got back up to fight them and they raged, dealing more damage and taking a lot less. I really don't see how all you people have casted one spell on them and noticed a huge difference... I always cast on them EVERY time, are you guys going by a fight you had a long time ago? Or does this happen every time you do the fight.

The last time I had it happen was maybe 6 months ago because we took a new guy in our regular group who hadn't done it before, but I've seen it a few times when I go with PUGs. I don't bother casting on them now because the fight is retarded easy and I'd rather not cause a rage and wipe. I've never seen them rage when no magic is cast on them, but they always seem to rage when someone starts casting. I have no idea why it never happens to you though.

Never seen em rage... that's *with* spell spam, both pld and BLM.

BLM is super easy to kill if you bring a DRK or BLU along, too. Spends most of it's time casting useless single target spells which are eaten by shadows. For GA you have stun, weapon bash or Head butt. Two hour is also totally useless and it's defense is a joke compared to the PLD at least.

This really needs to be tested then. You have two sides of the fence here saying they seen it rage yet don't know why but they blame it on magic, and the other side saying its not magic. I doubt SE would make a BCNM that makes magic completely useless or a giant liability.

Indeed. I've had a SCH (wanting to see how bad it was) go out nuking too on his own orb. I've always used stun + drain pretty liberally on drk.

If it does rage due to magic casting, it's not a very potent rage... or it takes something specific.

Casting magic on the cardians seems to speed them up along with making them more resistant to physical damage.

Yes, they do hit faster and stronger, and get a boost to damage (and I think evasion)

The first time we did this BC, we ended up turning the king into a godlike beast that would hit for 500dmg per hits really fast, and would take 5 dmg from melee attack. No need to add we wiped horribly.

I use all my KSs on RR too. It's easilly the best KSNM for reliable gil.

Queen hate sharing isn't hard to sort out. As any job, tag the whm and run to the entrance, when she's in the corridor, turn around and run to the edge of the circle. She'll si there and cast crap at you like dia or banish or buff herself. Melee rape Blm pretty quick, although I've died to it once (pickup group), -AGA III followed by immidiate Bludgeon or something. But otherwise is easy.

I'd also agree Rdm is easier than pld, just because Pld invincibles so you gotta waste 30sec doing jack shit, whereas Rdm is pretty manageable when it Chainspells.

Edit: Befor my last run, I'd always gone with Rdm/War, Whm, Pld and 3 DDs, Pld kites king, rdm/war drags whm to entrance, melee kill blm>king>whm, but the last run I did was whm thf 4 DD, the thf tagged both the king and the whm and kited away to the entrance while the melee raped the blm > whm > king. That was even easier I think too..

The bcnms must be very different for us then because I have casted on the kings every time and nothing happens, they don't become "indestructible" after a single spell lol.

No, I said casting "only Flash", as in no other offensive spells, I didn't say "only one Flash". It was cast many times before the Cardian raged.

Was I with you for this one? Was like...clockette, valbjorn, seiki, bro, loranne, you and I rotating out a rdm/war each run so only one of us had to run back to the bc? Maybe? haha. Regardless, we figured the wiki was overstating how terribly the cardians reacted to magic, and we turned one of them into a juggernaut cardian.

To be honest, you're not going to be able to do this ksnm reliably with less than 5 or 6 people anyway, so why not just use melee and skip on using magic? I mean, is it that difficult to continue using a strategy that works rather than risk wasting 30 kseals? >.>

Nope. It was 5 years ago or something. I think it was ilmaterrori, angiepoo, azn, hccmike and remey..or something. I've done a run with mmm, but we had no issue.


Anyway, the no magic bit isn't a joke. It can takes a few cast, but it pretty much turn into the strongest thing ingame eventually.

With RR, it's been a while, but i think I recall one of the TP moves wipes buffs. As tank, it may seem like he just got 20x stronger, but i think that was due to my pro and defender getting wiped off. Also, the hate is wonky. That is possibly due to the PLD's memory of shared hate even after the defeat of the queens. I could be wrong, but i am pretty sure he gets spammy with buff wiping.

Naw, they legitimately get 20x stronger. We were 5-manning it with 2 SAM/NIN, WHM, RDM, RDM/NIN when the PLD raged on us. Like, it was to the extent that the SAMs were taking more damage than they were doing, were having trouble hitting, were having trouble hitting for damage, and the RDM/NIN was tanking purely from Cure hate, and these SAMs were very solid players.

Like, he was raged for real.

This thread isn't a sticky and isn't already on the first page. I can see the logic behind putting it in the random question thread, although I usually reserve that thread for specific questions that a single knowledgeable person could answer (i.e. the main purpose of that other thread.) This thread was directed towards a broader audience, it's closer to a survey. Creating a unique thread for something like that is certainly justifiable.

I don't remember which one we fought, but I'm inclined to say PLD since Invincible is a lot easier to deal with than Chainspell . 30 some odd runs though over the course of a few months and always on the first run of the day someone would forget...and it'd be a close call to keep the kite alive after the king went apeshit.
