Thanks so much for that link Gred! Side note, that's a pretty sweet deal considering Amazon and Newegg have it for a smooth $50 more.

The reason I avoided 4K monitors was simply because I didn't feel that my new system and gpu (1070 FTW) could sufficiently power that grade of monitor. I'm honestly not sure how these work in regards to scaling but if I can still select the resolution I need and still have that ability to go up to 4K later on (which who the fuck really knows lol) then I'll invest some more time into checking those out. I'm pretty sure not knowing the mechanics is what's holding me back.

    Thanks again for your help

Friend had his power supply blow over the Labor Day weekend. Any good deals going on for 600W+ PSUs at the moment?

Newegg has an EVGA Supernova 750 B2 semi-modular for $80, with a $20 rebate; so $60 if they're the rebate type

well, plus taxes and shipping, if any.

it's bronze certified, though I don't know if you're looking for anything more specific.

I mentioned a few pages back that I might be looking for a new Nvida video card. I figure since money for me is tight, it'd be better if I went with last gen (aka. 900 series ish); not to mention I don't have anything 4k here. (I use a 1080 tv as my monitor, for instance. And before you ask; I tend to be a frugal sort, as long as it works, I won't replace until it breaks beyond repair)

Where could I look for some decent deals, folks? Rather be ready and pounce, now that the eye problem is dealt with for a while..

Don't have any major deals as of yet but I'd say look at the range of Nvidia 1060s that are as low as 240 USD and the RX 460 line roughly the same range. They give great and up to date 1080p capability with some future proofing.

I'd say about $200, if that helps. I can post up specs but I think I did that earlier. (Can save a bit more if that won't get me to decent)

And yes, up to $50 more would be okay, but I'm looking to future proof this a bit, even tho it may be a lonnnnngggg time before I get anything 4k. But yeah, watch the budget.

1060 is the move if you can find one for 200 bucks. Perfect for 1080 gaming.

Would like to stick with Nividia Geforce but I want to make sure I'll get one that will work with the motherboard, it ain't time for me to do a teardown/rebuild yet I think.

ASUS GeForce GTX 1060 3GB is currently $214.99 with a $10 mail in rebate. This should be sufficient in getting 1080p quality down. It shouldn't bottleneck any games as long as you're reasonable with your settings.

And cosign the frogulness (lolwords). I had a second gen i7 and a 560ti until this summer. Would still be using it had I not have gotten a bonus from work.

What do you guys think of it? Smaller case, I don't need a big tower. Some basic water cooling, which will hopefully make up for the smaller vid card missing the extra fan. I might get 2-3 fans and put them on the top and front and have it bring air from above and out through the back and front. Also plan on putting the radiator for the cpu on the back fan spot. Also left enough power from the PSU to add a blu ray drive in the future, or upgrade to whatever future video card I would want to get more life out of the cpu, since I can probably overclock a decent amount.

The setup looks good. I'm questioning the price of the CPU since I remember only paying only around $200 for it. It was from a Microcenter but still. That price there makes 0 sense. On amazon, the i7-6700k is $325.
It says combo, so where are the savings in that coming from/going to?

The cpu is a combo with the mobo. Alone, with the current sale, the cpu is like 239$ish.

Legit. It's a nice build and I may steal some parts for a less powerful itx htpc. If the combo is cheaper than sourcing on other places then pull the trigger my dude

Do you think 500w is enough to power that system with a 1070? This build is without gutting my current rig so the gf can use it as a second computer, but if I just gut it and let her use this one until I build her a new budget i3 or something I can drop the psu and either get a 1070 or upgrade to 32gb of ram.

I'm going to say now off the strength that you'd be cutting the power limitations close. A 550W is recommended off jump from most providers without factoring in an overclock or other power hungry components. I'd say see if you can find a 650W that won't break the bank.

For reference though, most 1060s require only a 400W PSU

    I run a Core i7 4770k, 32GB RAM, and a 1070 with a mild overclock off a 450W PSU. It runs fine.
