This one's sale ends soon, but be sure to read through the thread for more opinions on it or potential alternate deals/ideas. There's a couple low reviews on newegg on this one, but it's among the better potential deals with a 1060 in it.

Honestly, I would get a laptop to be portable and actually have decent battery life. 15.6" is an upper limit in terms of carrying it around in my case (13.3/14" is nicer to carry), and the 1060 is currently their lowest end 10-series in laptops (performs around a 970m, usually better) until the 1050/ti comes out, in which case any laptop with a 1050/ti will be superior in battery life and lower heat without giving up a whole lot for it (1050 is a really great sweet spot in cost/perf/heat/battery).

Go for one with a 1070 if you've got cash to burn and will have it plugged in most of the time. Might also consider getting a laptop cooler, something that raises it off the table a little bit with a fan underneath to help with heat.

Gaming laptops are never worth it.

I used to agree, but the new 1060 laptops are actually pretty damn good.
It largely comes down to "ultrabook style portability vs desktop replacement".
Plenty of people live in hotel rooms and don't really need the portability - a moveable desktop replacement is the void it's filling.

Looks like among the first laptops with a 1050/1050ti in them, but not at a real discount yet (they include the new kaby lake series intel, so there went any discount). The laptop 1050ti is around the desktop 960 (i flubbed above, laptop 1060 is closer to desktop 970).

While not really needed since I'm currently at a land unit, being in the military it's fucking vital to my sanity for every time I'm away from home port. Lack of upgradability and overall cost is a pain for sure, but more then worth it for me.

I actually just got myself a new one this last week, a Clevo P670RS-G (i7-6700HQ, GTX 1070). The recent change by Nvidia to effectively shove desktop class GPUs into laptops makes for a gigantic performance boost unless you were rocking something stupid like those 10 lbs monsters with a desktop 980 inside.

I accept this as a gaming laptop, capable of actually gaming decently. I don't mean "gaming" where your playing at 1080p 30fps on minimum settings, I mean "real gaming".. at 4K at 60fps on maximum settings! *cough*

So I finally finished getting all the parts to build my new computer that you guys helped me with. Now I need a good monitor that will do the 1080 card justice with around $500 for the budget. No G sync, only freesync or its equivalent. Please and thank you

Nice monitor and it fits the requested specs, but one thing that would prevent me buying it is that 27" is pretty small for a 4K screen. I have a 27" 1440P monitor and sometimes shit is too small, but then again, I am apparently an ancient fuck, so

I was researching monitors for a good display and had to look up G sync and freesync. G sync requires nvidia to function while freesync does not.
