I don't disagree. However, if I was rocking a three 27" setup I'd grab this based on how cheap it is. I agree with you that overall it's not worth the upgrade. That's why I sold my 40" 4K, bought a 32" 1440P, and used the leftover to buy a large HDD. 32" 1440P high hz is not at a price point I'm comfortable with yet. I won't go back to 1080P.

Oh, so someone near me on CL is selling a EVGA GTX Titan X 12GB for $500. I'm up to my eyelids with GPU at the moment but is that a good deal? Cheapest on Amazon is like $785.

Is Sceptre a brand worth using for monitors? I've never used anything outside of Samsung for them. There is a 144hz 27" insignia for sale on newegg that is refurbished.

The reviews seemed decent and it was getting some love over in /r/buildapcsales. That Insignia doesn't look bad. Maybe check return policy in case it's a turd.

The games I play, I definitely prefer 144Hz+2K+1ms-TN over 60 Hz+4k+4ms-IPS. Also I sit close enough to my monitor and I stay at 24" (purposefully to limit eye distance travel) that it's diminishing returns to have 4K.

Argh, I wish I didn't buy into all the hype. 2k might be a good sweet spot then. I'm trying to keep saving for my japan trip. Reading links here is definitely not helping!!

There was a Dell (very respected for monitors) 24" G-Sync with 1440p, 165hz, 1ms around the Prime Day deals for $330. You should be able to get one sub $300 on BF I think. Free Sync would be even cheaper if you're running and AMD card.

Game preferences matter a lot though. I play competitive RTS and AoS Clones, so I'll take 1ms over IPS colors 10 times out of 10 and G-Sync makes those games look buttery smooth on a 120hz+ monitor. But people who want to push triple A titles on 4k, I'm sure there's a lot of gain to be had in 4K; just not my scene though.

    G-SYNC 144hz 1440p 1ms on a 27"

Price drops from $450 to $380 if you sign up for a free "MyBestBuy" account

(Best deal from circa Prime Day for a comparable was $330 on a 24")

There's another deal on an Acer with an IPS-4ms panel vs the TN-1ms on the Dell. Otherwise similar stats

I've almost bought that Dell the last 2-3 times it was on sale. Seems quite good, I just always decide I'm willing to wait for HDR (that model isn't all that much of an upgrade from what I have now so I don't mind waiting a little while longer).

Wondering if anyone can point me in the direction of a good android phone with 2-3gb RAM around $150. Currently on Straight Talk/AT&T for network service. Don't have Amazon Prime, either.

Stolen from slickdeals Office Depot/Max has deals on WD External SSD's. Check your zip to see if there is a deal in your area. I snagged a 256GB for $30. Probably will resell but I'm not sure if I can shuck it. If I can, may use for myself.

Alright ya'll, this is a pretty big YMMV, but this is a $750 msrp PC going for as low as $84 but most on clearance are $184. They may be display models or returns so don't be shocked if the stock is incorrect. A bud got one so yes it exists. Search your zip.

    Intel 660p NVMe SSD: 512gb for $99.99

    https://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...82E16820167460

These drives are a fantastic bargain ... 3x the speed of SATA SSDs for the same cost per gig. There will be 1TB and 2TB versions as well, same cost per gig. The only downside is these have a lower number of lifetime writes (100TB and 200TB) than other SSDs, but are easily $80 or more cheaper.

Interesting. Some of those charts claim 6x previous generation. Color me skeptical. Well, I've also had my 1070 since it debuted so I suppose I can check its value

So the press thing going on now says the RTX 2070 is 499, but their site says 599.

Same with the rest, they're all more expensive on their site than the presentation says.
