So the press thing going on now says the RTX 2070 is 499, but their site says 599.

Same with the rest, they're all more expensive on their site than the presentation says.

599 is founders, 499 is retail.

Considering Intel hasn't made a dedicated GPU in over 15 years and won't be releasing one for at least another 3, they don't really fall into this particular field.


2k series realistically looking to be just as big of an evolutionary leap as Pascal, but since I personally couldn't give a fuck less about the new buzz words (ray tracing) I'll probably end up skipping this for 3k since there's nothing wrong with my 1070.

These cards hold really exciting promise for the first time in a long time, but don't forget all the comparisons they made today to existing cards were their "weighted average" of power which included the raytracing and tensor functions. It's not clear yet how much an improvement the traditional part of the graphics card will be.

Refresh my memory here. Was the performance difference between the 980ti and 1070 that crazy? I remember it as marginal with more power efficiency and a small percentage based clock speed increase.

I was under the impression the 980Ti and 1070 wasn't a huge difference at all, the big leap was comparing the 980Ti to the 1080

I understand the waiting for benchmarks, but lets be real. These arent cpus. They always make some performance gains over last gpu series unless rebranding(looking at AMD).

Iirc the 970 was maybe a hair behind the 780ti. The same with 1070 and 980ti. They always make big claims without benchmarks but I dont have doubts that there will be big gains from generation changes. Idk how much my 1080ti will be worth in the coming weeks.

What I am skeptical about is the 2080ti coming out at launch instead of months after the titan card which comes months after xx80 cards at launch.I am thinking these are just higher binned 2080s. I expect titan cards to still come out months later then the lower performing titan chips(which are normally the ti's) coming out months after that as a TitanTi or something stupid. Nvidia is greedy. Sell RTX titans for $1500 and set new "bar" for their top tier behemoth cards.

It's a shame AMD have fallen behind on the GPU market for the last few years.

We need some real competition.

They fell behind hard on the CPU side and are finally holding their on back in that market with only software optimization working against them. The GPUs will come when it's due time. We can only hope they fully learned from the ass beating they took from the RX4/5 series (which, too, failed due to optimization and pricing).

Oh and because we live in this type of era allow me to denounce any notion of my fanboyism towards any one vendor. I love innovation and pushing the tech forward which only comes from competing for my monies as we've seen Intel scramble to do after AMDs strong showing with Zen.

If a finicky game I played worked on NVidia cards, I would get either a discounted 1080/TI or a new card if their price is justified, but until then, stuck with AMD cards Maybe their next generation GPUs will compete...haha who am I kidding.

I haven't made the switch to a G-Sync or Free Sync monitor yet because I haven't felt the need. The 980 Ti B-Stock I got from EVGA still pushes a clean steady 120 FPS on eSports titles and 60 FPS on ultra for triple A titles, plus my monitor has light boost anyway. But I'm wondering whether, during the sell-off frenzy, there will be a cheap enough deal on a 1080 Ti or better that justifies making both a card and monitor upgrade.

I'll lower all graphics settings to hit a consistent 144hz.
I have a freesync monitor, but I use nvidia. ( for now )

Even if you don't get tearing at lower fps, sub 60fps looks like shit anyway.
Next monitor upgrade will be to 240hz.
