I'm on the hunt for cheap backup storage. I'll even chuck a drive if I have to. The cheaper the better, just gonna use it to backup before a format lol

I ended up grabbing 2 of those Sabrents, except the QLC ver. $200 total, will run them in RAID. I looked up some benches and they come in basically at the same level as a 970evo and great warranties so not bad at all.

This is for backup, not main use. I have nvme for boot, extra sata3 ssd for games, and another mechanical for long term storage that's almost full of memories. Need another for that long term storage.

I just dont see the point in spending 2-4x the money on nvme when I only have 1 slot on my board that's currently being used.

You're paying a premium for 7200 RPM. If this is a cold storage drive, get a WD EasyStore from BestBuy. 8TB for $130~ if you wait for the right deal.

Or alternatively right now get this WD Red. $75 for 3TB or $90 for 4TB.

Yes. I'd say for pure storage where you aren't looking for 7200 rpm to house games, $16/TB is more the norm. Or maybe $18/TB. As Gred said, 8TB for $130 or so is where it's at. Or try to get a 4TB for $80.

It's back. $120 for 8TB shuckable WD drive.

These are WD White Labels, which are basically reused Red Label (NAS) drives. Very durable.

Finally popped the BF/Sales cherry and bought some stuff. A few things were Amazon warehouse deals which get an extra 20% off. I got the last two listed items, a Kingston 480gb SSD and a 1TB WD Blue 7200 internal for a total of $57.90 including tax.

However, I just ordered the case below and it looks like a crazy value.

Antec P6 mATX Tempered Glass case - $29.99 after $30 mail in rebate + tax

Here are some of the features that make this a really attractive case:

    - PSU shroud.
    - Can fit up to six 120mm fans or four 140mm fans plus one 120mm fan.
    - Can install four 2.5mm SSD AND two 3.5mm traditional mechanical drives. Huge bonus to me.
    - Can fit a 15.3 inch GPU.
    - Three dust filters
    - Tempered glass. I don't think I'll buy a case that isn't tempered glass moving forward. It just looks too good.

I've used Antec cases before and really liked them. While the large mail in rebate sucks, it's whatever. Most likely it will be a debit card so I'll just use it for gas.

Very conflicted about possibly getting a XFX RX 5700 XT Raw II for $370 from Amazon. Even tho I've only been playing XI for the last few months my MSI RX Vega 56 Air Boost has had a few white screens, one black screen, and twice blue screen with the error for a stuck driver issue (first time it's ever happened on this card and it's had the same driver for around a month now). The sound is the main complaint. First and last blower/reference card I'll ever own.

The XFX 5700/XT lineup hasn't been the greatest since release, but they are my #2 AMD brand and I've personally had great customer service from them. The major complaint on the new cards is heat. However, I've seen a few review videos on YT where temps were in the mid 70s. As someone who has done crossfire 290x and 390x I'd love to see those temps! Also, reviews showed the 5700 XT handling the 2060 Super just fine, stomping a 1070, and trading blows with a 2070 and even being not too far behind a 2080. Someone tell me if $370 is it?!

Side note, I woke up at 3:00 AM today specifically for the EVGA deals. Well, there were none. Literally no GPU sales under $200 to begin with. All day not any 900 series card had been on sale, but now a 980 is $150 (barf). I would've done a 1080 TI for the right price but am now leaning on getting a 5700/XT.

What do you do with all these video cards anyway?
