This is what I'm looking to try and put together through black friday/holiday sales.
    https://pcpartpicker.com/list/hWpzBc

The only part I'm 100% married too is the CPU. A GPU isn't in the cards right now, so it has to be a 5600G. The 5700G is a hundred bucks more, but benchmarks show it only a few percentage points better in graphics.
40% price increase for 4% performance, not worth it. Especially if I eventually end up getting a GPU when prices calm down and going with a newer, dedicated CPU at that time.

The next thing is the case, I currently have a Corsair 200R, and the mesh-like top and side panel only really lets dust coat the inside of the case. I havn't had any temp problems, so want to move to a more closed case.
NO TRANSPARENT WINDOWS, NO FLASHY LIGHTS. As for the price, it's supposed to be $80, that exact model is out of stock atm, but there's a black/silver on newegg, just cba to change the list this moment.

The last thing I'm tied to is 32GB RAM. I currently have 8GB, and it's showing it's limits, and with how hungry games are getting, and how infrequently I can upgrade, fuck it, skip past 16, straight to 32.
Mobo: basic/budget is fine, mainly don't want bluetooth on the thing, prefer MSI/Gigabyte, because reasons.

Besides all that, just wanna get costs down (before the case price spikes, build was 800/900ish, would love lower), parts that won't blow up, and maybe if the sale stars align, some performance increases.
If anyone could keep an eye out for sweet deals, just post em here.

With Ultrawides, can you partition the screen out to act like multiple screens? So almost like a dual monitor in one sort of thing without just resizing individual windows?

Only problem with ultrawide is remoting home from a system not connected to an ultrawide.

Otherwise ultrawide is the shit and i would never go back.

for most programs it's a simple drag and drop to dock different windows to different parts of the screen. to wit i currently have BG and Youtube open on the right half of my screen and university coursework on the left half. for truly separated partitioning, like a game on one half and full desktop functioning on the other, there's some software out and about like Display Fusion and Divvy and Fancy Zones.

Yeah my only gripe with ultrawide is streaming to my shield tv doesn't optimize perfectly and some menus will be too small in some games or too large in others.

That's why I'm going with an AMD G series CPU, I know a GPU just isn't happening anytime soon.

And I just can't get out to Tustin these days. Last time I spent all day on the bus, and I don't have the free time for that in the current situation. Assuming the bus was even reliable, which it isn't right now.

You can take the metrolink. Microcenter is a 2 mile walk from the Tustin station.

Canith is your issue just procuring the GPU or is there a budget issue as well? I'm SoCal and I was going to be selling my current tower in the coming months so I could do a complete fresh install for Windows 11.

Budget. The most I could possibly afford would be a MSRP RX 6600, and even then, I'm not particularly keen on them being $50 up from a RX 5600.

In a normal environment, I'd still wait to get it on a sale, down from that price.

The main reason I'm even considering building a new rig right now is prices for non-GPU components settling down, my current rig has given me enough headaches and I want to be done with it, and if I don't do it now I might not have the money for it later.

The tower I will be selling is fairly close to what you have listed, except it's a dedicated CPU with a 6700 XT:

For reference, what I'm upgrading into:

If you've got any wiggle room to consider a GPU right now, or if you wanna purchase with a placeholder GPU (HD 7870), HMU and I'll try hook you up. The 7870 would be a bottleneck for sure, but it should be about the same performance if not better than you'd get on integrated unless the G series chips have taken a massive leap since last I checked (they used to be equivalent to a 1030)

Starting to shop around for a 2TB NVME with BF/CM coming up and obviously want to get the most bang for my buck. At the moment, I'm seeing some things in the $160-230 range, with what I'm mainly discerning as key differences being the read/write speeds. I'm assuming I want something that'll be over 3k for both, as some I've looked at were in the low/mid-1k. The highest yet most costly one I've seen is a Samsung, where I assume part of it is paying for the brand recognition. And in general, I haven't had an issue with their products in the past specifically. Was a Kingston around $180, but think it only had mid-2k speeds.

Since I'm expecting a bit more price fluctuation, is there a go-to site to simplify my searching or should I just assume I'll be hopping around Amazon, Newegg, and wherever? Or even something I should absolutely pounce on now?

It's a little pricey, so I'd recommend shopping around but I have a Samsung 980 Pro 2TB in my computer. It's only been a couple of months, but it's damn fast with loading just about anything. They have two versions, one without, and now one with a heatsink due to PS5 compatibility.

So with current gen GPU/CPUs being hell to get because of the pandemic/scalpers/etc. has it impacted older hardware? Currently I have an Intel Core i5-6600 and wondering if there's a decent upgrade available.

The Samsung one I'd first seen around $230 is, I'm assuming, the prior gen. A minute difference in loading otherwise isn't my primary concern, just that the current 250gb I do have is filling up fast.

I'm pretty happy with it, and I paid... a lot more for it, lol. $299 almost makes me want to pick up another.

It's finally started, got my first component for building a new PC.
Now it's just continuing to keep an eye on deals to keep the total cost down.

You have to scroll down looking at the right side to see "other sellers", but Amazon itself sells it, but doesn't ship 'til March.
