WTF Happened to projectxi?

I can't find that shit anymore. I was looking for news on it.

I can't find anything on meteorxi either...

Does anyone know what the shit happened to these projects?

(For those who don't know these are FFXI private server projects)

for extra lols: one of the contributors on the project used the name lordkat

another completely unrelated dude used the name lordkat in ffxi like four years ago

se sent him a cease and desist regarding projectxi based on this very very hard evidence

Score: Good Ok, I don't know the full story; but as for pXI, they have gotten DCMA'ed and gotten some C&Ds. They STILL have their IRC channel. (tho no website and no place to put their code right now), but are looking for a new way to put it up.

It may be that this bit over wizbot got pXI in the crossfire, but I don't know the details, only that Square tried to shut pXI down again. I hope this was a case of "Square, you missed." for pXI showed some promise so FFXI won't ever completely die.

We'll have to see how this comes down; I wouldn't be surprised if Wizbot gets shut down sooner or later.

I was the one that made that post. At the time, they were going to continue but...

As of today, I'm not sure when this happened, but the project has been disbanded :/

It took me a while to find the channel again, which was where I got the information anyway. Yes I still use IRC (though I usually hang out on esper, not that server)

If you want to confirm that (yes that is a undoctored screenshot) the channel info is irc://irc.projectxi.org/pXI for a direct link. I do hope someone takes up the slack eventually; I don't think FFXI will be around forever and we may need to make private servers to keep it around. No telling.
