There's another one in penn station too apparently. They're all over the place, it's just that NYC is full of mexicans and slants who cook mexican food better.
Def one in Penn, I work upstairs and go there whenever they're running their crazyass deals. There's also a Charley's/Papaya down there that serves $1.25 breakfast...2 eggs, home fries and toast. Only thing that sucks about it is that a month ago it was $.99.

Also, cart food is awesome. I eat chicken & rice at least twice a week, though I've never been to the popular one. I don't care how good it might be, I'm not waiting an hour for chicken and rice, especially when the cart on the other corner is run by the same guy.

My advice is to pay $89 for a monthly card. It's once card for a full 30 (31? pretty sure 30.. forget) and you can use it as many times as you want for the full 30 days, to wherever you want to go. For the unlimited cards there's a 18 min wait to use it again for the second time in a row, but realistically it shouldn't be an issue. You can save a bit by doing this, and when you have free time you can wander around in the city . Good luck!
This is great information to have, thanks so much.

List of things to try at least once so you can either enjoy the experience or be able to bitch about how overpriced it is:

    -Pommes Frites
    -Red Mango
    -Pinkberry
    -Peter Luger
    -Rice to Riches
    -Lombardi's

    etc.

Don't trust anyone in NYC, ppl in NY are far from "Friendly" ..
make sure you carry your wallet in your pants pocket not a bag or "male purse"..
Don't carry a Camera around you neck like a tourist you'll look like a target..
Don't Buy anything that looks like tickets to a show from a weird looking guy standing Outside or the museum/concert/Madison square garden etc..
Never pull out a a hand full of cash at once in the street believe it or not, you're being watched.
Don't look like a terrorist! New yorkers are hella paranoid due to Sept. 11th ~.~

I am not saying you guys are making things up, however I live in NY and don't know of a single Taco Bell. Even if you go to tacobell.com and use their locator you can start calling numbers of the places the list and none of them exist (guessing they used to exist prior to the mass closings like what 4 or 5 years ago. I want to believe there is one mythical taco bell in Penn Station, however everyone I know "knows" of some taco bell somewhere that they saw once. When I go there it doesn't exist though.

Another funny thing is google "penn station taco bell" or "penn station ny taco bell" or new york penn station taco bell". The top link is called literally "There is no taco bell at penn station, douche". Not to say that means there isn't. I am sure it is right next to the unicorn stables and ran by gnomes j/k

"penn station ny taco bell" returned no results, without the quotes the first result was http://foursquare.com/venue/203380 which is just a map showing the location of a taco bell at penn station

They exist, but honestly I don't know why anyone would go there. I have to go to penn and the flat iron district later this week so i'll confirm with pictures in case it does exist.

There's another Taco Bell/Pizza Hut down Chambers near the 1 train. Honestly Taco Bell isn't that big of a deal here, I think the only people who care are stoners who have the munchies. And even then there are better, cheaper alternatives for them like Chinese Food or a bunch of $5 Dominos Pizzas

we're neighbors. kinda. i live in whitestone, but all my HS friends live around bayside/flushing.

also, that taco bell you're talking about, remember like 3 years ago when it shutdown for 6months, then reappeared all new and snazzy? when i saw it the first week it was open, it was all glowing and shit, with a bunch of people outside; it looked like a club.

WHAT THE FUCK I LIVE DOWN THE BLOCK FROM THAT BUILDING!

And I guarantee there's a taco bell down there. It's combined with 2 other stores (like everything else in the actual station is) but it's definitely there.

Ah you are right my bad, it works with "penn station taco bell" and "penn station new york taco bell" but not with ny.

I can't find a taco bell without actually leaving the city and heading up to Yonkers or some other right outside the city location. Guess I'll have to give a good search over at Penn Station.

I know everyone is putting taco bell down and wondering why someone would want some taco bell. I like it, I just do and I used to eat it a lot. It didn't seem like anything at first but after you go a few years without ever even seeing a taco bell you sorta think it sounds really good.

I only eat Taco Bell at 3:45AM right before they close on like Saturdays like once every three months when I'm really craving it and then immediately regret it afterwards

Experiencing something in desperation and regretting it immediately afterwards? Sounds perfect for NYC to me

I don't know if anyone mentioned it directly. If I missed it sorry.

As far as taxes go, you will pay an additional State Income tax, which works out to about 1/3 of what you pay in Federal Income Tax. Like if you pay 150ish in Federal Tax, your state tax will be around $50 in addition to the 150 taken out for federal.

On top of that you have the NY SUI/SDI Tax, but that is usually only a couple bucks a week.

Living down in the city you may have additional taxes taken out of your pay as well. I'm about 60 Miles north, so I don't have to worry about that shit myself.

And I think you mentioned worked for $9/HR...... fuck that. I know people who work behind the counters at bagel stores in Manhattan making $11-$12/hour. I'd try for that census position and then look for a better paying permanent position from there.
