Yeah I'm not going to argue pronunciations because before anything was recorded, five people on the script team took into account the following:

(1) the Japanese version of words
(2) existing game data such as the opening movie
(3) what sounds right when spoken in context

"băs(s)tŏk" was chosen instead of "bæstuːk" in part because "băstŏkûr" sounds better than "bæstəʊkkər". Or even "bæstuːˌkæn" that is NO.

You will hear certain characters blatantly pronouce things "wrong" like WinHurst because of an in-game joke about the Galka or oztroJA because the speaker is a little kid.
