Two of Kinect's biggest problems will be the depth map the IR sensor creates being 320x240 resolution, which takes subtle movements, fingers, foot/wrist-bending, etc, out of the question. It's framerate also runs at 30fps, which gives it an input latency of 33ms off the bat, excluding the extra time spent processing the imagery and applying bones to it, then having it work with regards to the game itself, so it's useless for anything requiring quick reflexes unless you want to start acting ahead of the action to ensure your movements are read in time.

I still want to try the thing though, hopin' my local EB Games gets a demo kiosk up for it eventually.

    Plus Kinect hates black people.

i went to the microsoft store at one of the malls here and i gotta say even trying to do small movements is hard. i was playing a bowling demo and there were people watching so i couldn't really mess around with everything but there is still lag for the cameras depth perception. I was messing around trying to see how close/far i could be and if your too close it wont work and will tell you to step back. also i watched other people play and they were having trouble figuring it out right away and i could watch the lag from moving your hand better and it is noticeable. over all from what i have seen from videos and demos, move is worth the money and kinect should just die

i definitely think Move will be worth it eventually, but I dont think it is yet. Probably after the holidays are over there'll be more new games out and more current games patched etc., but right now none of the games by themselves really justify the cost for me... which is probably just as well, since I have plenty to spend my money on before the year is over lol

Infamous 2 is said to be supporting Move (although no official announcement yet). Just sayin'.

This is where the move is going to shine. So many games CAN support Move control, but don't have to.

Only thing that sucks is I do agree that many games will probably dual-wield Move controllers, which means I will HAVE to start off with 2. I can't really imagine the Eye handling 4 on the screen at once though, so i'll assume that most multiplayer games will hold a max of 2 tracking balls on the screen at once.

That being said, the layout of move compatible games in the retail market is pretty cool. I saw Ruse and the way it is laid out on the back is a teeny bit different than the Wii. I shouldve taken a phone picture but I didnt think of it. Basically theres a banner across the back in light blue, and it says "Move compatible using *Playstation Eye* *Playstation Move* *Navigation Controller*"

I actually found a wii game that lets you dual wield, amazingly enough. It's a lightgun game called Martian Panic, kinda lame but I thought it was interesting.

Anyway, when it comes to just pointing at the screen the wii performs decently well, which is probably why the few good games with motion controls are FPS/3PS games (RE4, Conduit, Red Steel 2). From what I can tell PS Move has the same level of responsiveness for pointing which is great for shooting, now I'm really interested in seeing how it handles some of the functions the wii struggles with (vertical motions, distinguishing between horizontal and vertical waggles, rotating the remote, and the somewhat less refined motion recognition of the nunchuck, among other things)

$160(2x $50 "wands" + $30 cam +$30 movement controller) just to be able to play chinzey $60 games isn't so appealing imo.

A guy from GAF has been doing pretty good video demonstrations of some Move stuff, and he sets it up so you can see any amount of lag if there is some (on the Flight Control HD one anyway).

Also in the front, but it's just a generic "supports it", not specific. Games that require Move to play with say "Required" intead of "Compatible" in the sub-header.

If there's one thing I wish Sony would do, is have a consistant scheme for describing what the game supports on the back. It used to be plain text wrapped in a bubble border, then it moved to just being floating icons with tiny text under them (which was hell to read on dark rear covers), and now it's currently a much more readable text with an image beside it, inside a grey rectangle.

sony likes to change up their media a lot.

crying baby dolls sitting in front of playstations -> city scenes with explosions and games playing on the walls -> kevin butler.

I like the new scheme though. Everything is more bold and vibrant.

    Also i cant see Sho's videos :\

    nvm

I don't mean to suck too much Move-cock (I think it will take a developer a while to come out with a truly "essential" game using it) but the controller handles all those things you mention beautifully. When you are holding the sword in Gladiator Duel it just...works. All movements, rotation of the blade angle, extremely minute movements (like spinning a ball in ping-pong) - it just works.

anyway my only issue with that level of control is that it makes it harder to play sitting/laying down. For Wii at least, you can sorta fudge your way through pointing games without getting off the sofa, and waggle can be accomplished with a flick of the wrist as easily as a flail of the arm. I actually am not really a big fan of motionplus, mostly because it requires big tiresome motions to register, so it definitely feels like you're gaining precision but at the cost of a slightly more relaxing gaming experience. Still, I'm not really going to make any judgments about Move being good/bad until I actually get it.

Am I the only one who feels that aiming with the Move for light-gun games may not be as accurate as the Wii? The Wii remotes sensor had two sets of IR lights to align itself with, where-as the PS Move has just the ball, and hopefully decent tracking of its size for when you get closer/farther away. I just can't picture it being as accurate as a proper light gun, which the Wii remote was close to in games that had a calibrate mode to remove the need for a crosshair.
