In generally a weird Al CD consists of 3 or so complete parodies, a polka medley of song lyrics put to polka music, and the rest are "style parodies" (meaning they sound like say an old 50s song) or originals.

Yeah, he only is really popular for his parodies because that was his claim to fame. You can say parodies are a dime a dozen, but name one other mother fucker with 10+ CDs that generally go gold or platinum?

He's exactly like every other musician, he releases the singles that are the most appetizing to the most amount of people, and the fans pick up the CDs and start to learn and appreciate the deeper cuts.
