Everyone wants your party dead. There's no where to even DO mini games.

Maybe some training sessions between lightening and hope during the forest, or some kind of stupid carnival game with sazh and vanille in ch 8(they had a small one already why not add more) where you win components or credit chips. There were a quite few places they could've added little button press things here or there that would've broken the repetitiveness of a dungeon crawler.

I agree that they really should add a little bit of breathing room, not in the way of minigames, cause fuck minigames, fuck that stupid looking for that stupid yellow fuck over and over in chapter 8, god that pissed me off. Anyway.

Some of these dungeons are just, really long and drawn out, the one in the forest/facility/whateverthatwas with hope and lightning felt like it would never fucking end. Usually breathers for me include exploring a brand new town, checking out the shops for new equipment and abilities, talking to random townspeople, but, uh, yeah...

Not really complaining too much though, I'm enjoying the game.

I really hope you don't mean finding the chocobo chick. It showed you exactly where he went and it took about 20seconds to do the whole thing <__<

I don't sit super close to my TV, and it isn't very big either. Was hard as hell to tell where the bird was going, I basically just went in the general direction and ran around spamming X everywhere -_-

I think that my biggest problem was I didnt have a good sabotour leveled up, buuut i got home from class today and rocked his butt. Mustve been the alcohol.

Deprotect/Deshell really do go a long way on this game. Its ridiculous how easy you can get to high numbers with them up. COM RAV SAB fucks shit up.

I'm at the 20 hour mark as well and I agree with everything the OP said.

Even though I'm not a fan of linear games the more you proceed the more you forget about it.
Story and characters are truly awesome so far and boss battles are by far the most epic ones ever seen in the series.
Music is great as well, especially the multiple boss battle themes.

I like how melee attacks and magic are balanced, and how -ra and -ga spells don't make tier1's useless.

The game's best innovation compared to the other FF games is that it doesn't allow you to keep pressing X while you don't even watch the screen during regular, let alone boss battles: if you don't pay attention you're dead in seconds against pretty much everything.

Summons have been criticized to be useless - it's bullshit, they're extremely useful even though they don't do incredibly high amounts of damage. They certainly did save me quite a few times.

I just reached CH 9 and hit the 20HR mark too. Lots of grinding of CP at the end of CH8, but it was worth it.

Game still has me wanting to play more and find out more about the characters and see how it is going to develop. I love the fighting system. The first few hours was "Eh.." but after being able to play with it and figure out diffrent combinations, and be forced to tank some fights or heal others, it is awesome.

Like others said, it is liner but you get lost in the story and you almost just don't care. It is worth the 60$ I dropped into it and not even done yet

Well my 3 month old 120GB PS3 Slim Model: CECH-2001A just RLOD'd and it has proper ventilation, fan was working, and my room is 65 degrees so... it makes me wonder also if that's the reason there is a shortage of PS3s out in the stores right now maybe there is something wrong with them? Regardless, haven't turned it back on yet bout to do that. I really want to finish FF 13 but I never thought in a million years a system would mess up on me. Hell I still own pristine condition PS and PS2 still working to this day with 0 problems.

This fucking sucks. I was on the Gran Pulse map too maybe the PS3 can't handle the map lol.

Update: Turned it back on and it started up just fine. Maybe it was a fluke who knows will keep you updated.

There are shortages due to holiday and tax time demand, not to something being wrong with them, how does that even make sense?

Bout the same. Only problem I have is having to read about key story points from the datalog. It's not that they don't tell you what you need to know, but the details are always more thorough in the log. And a lot of the time, things pop up in the log before its even discussed on screen..

On the original topic, my save game is almost 60 hours. I took some detours and seem to be able to do the boss fight very soon.

But there's still so much to do in this game.
