I know it was easy, but I didn't 5 star it first time, lol. I got 4 stars and ended up re-doing it for 5 star trophy/achievement. When I first did it, I did my usual and buffed first before going, which killed my 5 star first time doing it.

Random question, which i probably know the answer to, but can you come back and re-fight orphan a second time?

i want the 5-star trophy, but at the same time i want to finish the story before going out and doing all of the side quests and such. i don't think i can get a 5 star on the final form without grinding points for hours.

I didn't overgrind during my first playthrough so I found the final fights to be nice and chellenging.

I like the fact that they put a zerg fight as final boss, which is new to the series. That was unexpected, even though it wasn't particularly hard.

Bart and Orphan #1, on the other hand, kept me on my toes all the time.

he's at like 10% and all of a sudden, the ultima spell that had been doing triple digit damage the entire fight oneshots me through shell.

That's what I've been doing o: I've made over 1mil CP with Growth Egg just from doing missions and a few encounters on the way to those missions. I still need a ton of CP to cap out though.

every time I stagger him I only get to hit him for about 3 seconds before he uses his little cutscene attack. when he's done with his attack and the CS is over, he's completely out of stagger...

The light form is very easy... all Iv been doing is doting the thing and it deals a nice amount of dmg. take it into the dark form and I do OK, I can live in it. But once the light/dark form happens for some reason he always one shots my lead. even with mostly def gear on and 7k HP I dont have even one thing maxed out yet so that might be it very little grinding ~_~ only 40 hours in(and thats with 7 hours of leaving it on overnight because I forgot to turn it off) Maybe I do have to grind a little?

Have to say this is about as hard as any FF final boss fight has been to me.
it seems fully random who he hits with it.. Even with a sent in the party(it seems to do nothing for this fight...) it hits the guy I am playing.

If he would just follow hate rules it would be a very easy fight. >.> ya im have to give up and find that en death item to put on my main at the least... Shit always gets me at like 30% hp with it.

edit: haha beat it ~_~ death acc's did the trick. Only got 3 stars with the poison trick tho. So you wont 5 five star it doing that

once imperil/depro/deshell is on and and you have faith/bra/haste on, yer good to go.
com/rav/rav one round then Rav/rav/rav before you stagger med/med/med and then back to rav and stagger him, before stagger is over med/med/med, cure up then buff/debuff then repeat to stagger him again and depending how strong you are by the second stagger he should be done for.

just an fyi, if you're about to die from orphan v2's (or anything else's) Doom you can buy yourself some extra time by summoning an Eidolon. the counter does not go down while your Eidolon is out.

Ya I found out how to beat all of them with my gimped pt.


I just used the poison way for the 2st form, and the final form was easy. Just stacked as much str as I could, and used ravx3 to build stagger then changed to comx2+ rav.

used 2 PTs for the final fights(so I had to hit retry a at each of em ~_~)

1st) Fang, Light, Hope
2nd) Vanille,Snow,Hope
3rd)Fang, Light, Hope

I pre buffed for the 1st form, Poisoned on the 2nd form and made myself snow(who I hate in any pt lol) because I could have him have 8k HP with stacked items and just zerged the final form.

Pretty sure all my guys/gals hp were 6k+ (pretty sure 7k+), and had all their 2nd tier weapons star level.

Sounds like you need to grind some and level up your weapons lol, you seem pretty low all around

Just love when people go 'SO EZ I DID X DISAPPOINTING' then forget to mention that they grinded the shit out of everything. You should have around 5k~ max playing through legitimately, and its perfectly doable with those stats.

But yeah... strategy goes out the window if you overgrind. Thanks for that wisdom.

Well I didn't have a problem with any of the 3 final bosses. Only problem I had was 5 starring the last one first time (took me 3 times in the end).

I didn't overgrind at all. I just did missions 1-18 in GP and a little chochobo digging and i perhaps fought the behe+wolf 10 times max, although I never ran from a fight except maybe 5 IN TOTAL.

When I got to the boss i had almost capped my main job's Crystarium.

I went in Like with Fang Hope and Vanille. For the first two fights I Started on Espionage(SAB/SAB/SYN) Buffed-Debuffed to full switching to Evened odd (SAB/SYN/MED) if my Health needed topping up. When the guy used Big AOE moves i changed to Combat Clinic(SEN/MED/MED) for a few seconds. When i was fully buffed and the boss was fully debuffed I switched to Relentless Assault (COM/RAV/RAV) and as soon as i got the first hit switched to TriDisaster(RAV/RAV/RAV) (yeah I got fang 4 or 5 spells and level 1 RAV) to stagger it quickly. Once staggerred i went back to Relentless Assault sometimes switching to Diversity(COM/RAV/MED) if and when needed. Once again when i got hit by big moves i used Combat Clinic. The fights was easy as pie. No deaths ever on all 3 times i did them.

For the 3rd fight my mistake was buffing/debuffing to full which is how i scored 0 stars the first time. the second time i switched to control Hope and Just casted Haste/Bravery/Faith and then went full out. 4 stars that time. So for the final try I just cast Haste on all members and debuffed untill haste was on. then switched to Relentless Assault and quick change to Tri Disaster for quick stagger. Remember always use Diversity or Combat Clinic as necessary. Easily 5 starred it.

Oh and don't forget to Highwind as the stagger bar hits 999%

So I'm having trouble beating Orphan's first form. My party is Light/Sazh/Hope. It's not that the fight is too difficult, but the last 5 tries, he has insta-death'd my main.

Does the poison trick works on this guy or the other Orphan form? Or is there any other strategy that I could use to just finish this game?

Poison works. DoT + healing is the best way to go and put Cherub's Crowns on your main (and possibly others).

I straight up crushed this dude the first go round. Cept when I had him almost dead and didn't heal Light and he KO'd him on the last form. Then I straight up raped him again.

I didn't do much grinding either.

Yeah, it's weird, I 1 shot all 3 forms and 5*'d first and third on my very first try, when I went back through after doing a ton of grinding in tetracts I got fucking smashed repeatedly and had to get all strategic and shit.

I think he may actually adapt to how strong you are.
