It was a party for my friend, a birthday party I think. I was young, so I don't remember it very clearly, but the story has been told to me time and time again by my parents. I was sitting in the corner by an empty chair, conversing with something. By everyone else's view, there was nothing there. But I could see an older man. A lonely looking man. I tried to converse with him for a while, but then I gave in and waited until I went home. Then, I asked my parents, and they quote "Why was nobody talking to the old man in the corner?" They asked me to describe the man and so I did. In detail, they say. They phoned the friend and asked if there was an old man fitting the description I gave at the party. The friend was extremely weirded out, so she asked for us to come over. My dad took me over and the friend showed me a picture, asking me if that was the person I saw. I answered yes and her face drained of colour. It turns out that was her father, and he'd died years before.

My ex just committed suicide a couple of weeks ago. We were broken up for around two years already, and I knew he suffered from depression and suicidal tendencies. Whenever he would send me a depressing text saying he was doing some kind of self harm, I would forward it on to one of his close friends in the area since I no longer lived near him. I felt it was all I could do, but that doesn't mean it made me feel any better when he actually did die. It may sound reasonable when people respond saying "tell her parents and forget about it, not your problem anymore," but in reality it probably won't feel this way if she does end up doing something. That didn't work for me, at least.

The girl has mental issues. Talk to someone that she respects and is close to her, and try to get them to convince her to check herself into the mental ward of a hospital voluntarily. That would be a good place to start. Being in a voluntary ward is a lot better than being in an involuntary ward, which is likely where she'll end up if she does attempt and fail and still refuses treatment. And just remember, a majority of people that attempt suicide do fail, especially on their first attempt... it's much harder than they typically anticipate.
