This chick doesn't sound like she's depressed. Sounds more like a hormonally driven teen who is trying to manipulate the guy into getting back with her, and yeah she could actually end up harming herself in a fit of rage. Any way, do what everyone else has already said - tell her parents or a teacher, someone who will actually take the steps to make sure she gets help.

I'd suggest cutting off all contact with her after doing so, no email, instant messaging, txts, calls, whatever. Since she's coming off as being a manipulative kid, as long as you're talking to her, she's going to think she can still get you back.

My little sister went through someone like this, where they started to threaten killing themselves, or even her. Ended up getting so bad with the stalking the police banned him from the WHOLE STATE of NY. He in turn had people from England call my parents at 3am in the morning, etc, stupid crap like that. Guy finally did cross the border (he'd left for army camp), got in trouble and thrown in jail for a month or so... And she still talks to him from time to time.

Case in point, alert the parents, like everyone else said. Then go change your phone number. And next time, wait more than a mere week before dumping someone and moving on.

I work in a hospital, all you have to do is call the cops and they will go and get her and bring her to the hospital. Once there she'll be kept safe and help for a mental evaluation by a social worker. If she's serious about this and the social worker can see that, she'll have to talk to the DMHP or Designated Mental Health Professional. If he still see's that she's crazy/serious he'll admit her to a higher form of care.

First of all, none of this is your fault.

Second, you need to get her to talk to a therapist or her parents or a friend and get her some help right away.

Third, if none of that works, as cold as it sounds, let her. Dude, if you broke up with her an you found someone else, she needs to get over it.

Now, on the other hand, if you cheated on her or you intentionally broke her heart, you better be taking responsibility and doing what you can to fix it. The only thing you can do is sit her down and just talk to her and say "look, ____, don't get down on yourself. I had fun, blah blah blah, but I need something else in my life. You will meet somebody that will stay with you, just give it time, la la la".

If she still wants to kill herself there isn't anything else you can do.

She's starving for attention and thinks this will get you back. There's maybe a five percent chance she'll go through with it (well variable given how crazy she really is, etc), but most likely it's a sham. Just call the police and very calmly tell them that an old friend called you up claiming they wanted to commit suicide, they'll take it from there.

I had an ex do this to me as well. The fucker is crazier than ever now, but at least he doesn't call me anymore.
