I broke up with a chick and she gave me the strong indication that she was gonna do something stupid. She was an hour away so I called the cops asking to send a unit over to see if she was okay and hopefully prevent her from doing so

Haven't read the thread, I know it was locked at some point (who cares) but anyway that's what I did. Turns out it was unecessary, but if she had, I wouldn't have hd any guilt, suicide is fkng shameful and selfish

ps - my only regret is that she was working towards being a teacher and thankfully she was able to convince the police not to have any record of having stopped by her house over these concerns; her sanity being called into account for any reason could make future career endeavors difficult

It has nothing to do with insensitivity and everything with wanting people to live that truly -want- to live, regardless of what teenage drama is thrown their way.

I was hoping for a "tragic" end to this story, really. At least, they always call it "tragic", although I view a tragedy as something that shouldn't have happened, did happen, and was unfortunate. All she has to do to keep this from being a "tragedy" is not kill herself, so even if she did die, it wouldn't be one.

I am late to this thread, but I remember created a post like this before and I went through what you were going through. Alot of people say do not take it seriously, but I didn't either and my ex actually tried to commit suicide.
If you know someone long enough, you can tell if they are being serious or bluffing. My X said she wanted to commit suicide 3x, and on the third time I could tell she was serious and I called 911 and saved her life. She cheated on me, and I hate her for that, but she is still a person and I would feel guilty knowing that she tried to commit suicide, and I did nothing about it. Hit her with a reality check, call 911 on her next time she says it. My X is clean now and is living a lot happier.
