Well the Blacksmith description talks about firearms "being adopted by ambitious members of the guild", pinpoint to a considerable amount of job/weaponry not announced yet?
I suppose we'll see when all the scores come out.
Not necessarily, for a couple reasons. Namely, it sounds like all of the magical offensive spells are AoE so either you'd have to cast sleep and then leave all the rest of the damage to the melees, or alternate sleep and nuke. Plus, there's no resting for MP. Although it sounds like there may be a refresh and aspir of some form in the game, it won't allow for bouts of heavy spell use with a couple minutes rest before you get back to more heavy spell use. So casting sleep continuously to keep mobs at bay would probably be an MP sink unless you really needed it, or else you'll be out of MP before you know it and who knows how you get it back yet.
Or you can look at the "About" page on the FFXIV website and see.
He was also introduced as such at the Distant Worlds Chicago concert back in December (I was in attendance), where it was announced that he had just recently completed the game's entire score.Music: Nobuo Uematsu (Smile Please Co., Ltd.)
What I'm saying is he might just be the lead composer. FFXI had multiple people for both art direction and music before it got into expansions. Uematsu's name was put at the forefront just as it is now, but after the core game, he never made another track ('cept distant worlds, iirc). For all we know, they put his and only his name there because no one else working on it is as well known. Thus his name is there to hype the game and save space.
However, we wont know until the credits for every song comes out, so it's a moot point.
Archer = RNG
Lancer = DRG/SAM/DRK/THF/DNC

I will be playing this game with my wife. I can't wait. So is this pretty much FFXI, but better graphics/different story? Same tarutaru etc?
It's different, son.
Races are essentially the same, but to say it's a straight copy is a bit much.
Still /nerdraging over no male Miqo'te D:
Though yeah, the info is pretty nice. Thinking I'll go Lancer/Gladiator until they (hopefully) add Gambler.
Really wonder why they chose to get rid of Light and Dark..
Because they're giving players, enemies, and areas the potential to have their own specific element, and light and dark don't fit in the wheel and would throw off the balance.
Light and Dark could still be elements. That chart displays what conjurers control, much like a black mage. There could be another job that has control of light/dark. Would be interesting. Or if this game goes down the "job tree" path, we might get light/dark as higher up elements. I doubt they'll be entirely absent from the game, even if players can't control them. There really is too little to be speculating so heavily, but hell, what else are we to do while at work? Work?
So with no light/dark, does that mean healing spells will take an element? Its not exactly unprecedented, given that games like FFTA have used earth heal and white flame for elemental heals, but it would have been interesting to be able to spec into a light element and have stronger heals.
Cure has always been light elemental, so it'll be strange if they'll still be having a classic cure spell, without an element associated with it. Does that mean it'll no longer hurt the undead?
Uematsu will compose all the music. Other people will handle the actual orchestrations though (since I'm assuming it will again be recorded music, not synthed.)
