I like that he talks about prescription drug abuse and drugged driving, since those are much more troubling (imo) than marijuana use. But then the reasons he gives for not legalizing marijuana are so weak that they've made me a stronger supporter of its legalization. Seriously, respiratory problems? Has this man never heard of cigarettes?

Personally I never understood the problem with legalization, could potentially bring in millions in tax revenue and take millions away from organized crime.
Alcohol brings in millions of tax dollars and creates just as many if not more health problems.
At the very least it could be decriminalized without creating too much trouble with the anti marijuana people.

Actually from what I understand about the issue, which is admittedly limited, part of the reason it was initially outlawed was because of lobbying from companies who did not want competition from hemp.

Why the tree hugging lobby types don't push for growing/use of hemp is beyond me, you could smoke a mountain of hemp and not get a buzz at all.
You can make soooooo many things with hemp fiber and it doesn't take 50+ years to regrow a huge field of it.
But it kinda looks like marijuana so it's bad.

I'm not sure 100% but unless the hemp plant is just a different name for male marijuana plants they aren't the same. They are from the same plant family but they are not the same plant.

Probably why people are against hemp is because of the confusion between them.
