I think Kstate is a great team, which is why I picked them as champs. but they obviously have more to prove as they have only beaten a 15 to this point. I usually have a pretty good feel for the best team in the country, wasn't sure this year

I think it's more of an issue of underrated/overrated middle of the pack teams. Yeah, KU didn't play like KU today, but I wouldn't say they were terrible. On the other hand, NI was fantastic until they got stuck against KU's hardest press with no timeouts.
Well, other than the big east, lol.
Certainly the best opening two rounds I've ever seen, not just the upsets, but so many games are super competitive in the early going, I hope it keeps up!
big least*
Yeah, I'm probably a prisoner of the moment right now, but it's been a great first two days. Colin's 'just pick all chalk for the most part, and high seeds never get past day 2' definitely doesn't apply now. Not to say some years it wouldn't (as it did last year), but not this year!
The only way to cap off this wacky tourney would be for Cuse and WVU to meet for the title.
BYU hot early
Wake better keep this a game, b/c I don't think CBS will be leaving it where I am located.
K-State's beaten a 3 seed twice, a 5 seed, a 9 seed that's in 2nd round and one that's not, a 10 seed that's in the 2nd round, a 7 seed that's not, an 8 seed that lost to NI in the first round by a nearly identical score to what they beat KU as, and a "should have been" 14ish seed in WSU.
True, it's fucking frustrating. The rule is extremely clearly defined, they need to just make it reviewable. I understand the issue of reviewing every potential charge, but it's a bit out of hand how absurdly inconsistent it is within even single games, let alone between games/crews.
The same shit went for KU CONSTANTLY in the KSU@KU game to the point where the refs were blatantly defending KU's lead every time K-State threatened.
KU's starting lineup is Senior, Junior, soph, soph, frosh.
They have 1 senior on the entire team. 3 juniors at 1 ppg or higher.
Also, fucking... fuck.
Man what's really pathetic is with both playing there on the same day, these are basically home games for both.
Plow is in some serious damage control right now
Yeah I know Kstate has beaten good teams this year, I just meant you have to show up in the tournament to prove you are a great team.
I think when it gets to the point that it is a good defensive strategy to take charges, something is wrong. It is in the game's best interest to encourage guys to go for the shotblock, not plant your feet and get run over. I think when a guy is barreling out of control down the lane it should be a charge even if the guy guarding him is moving his feet, and in most situations when a guy runs up just to take a charge - it should be a block.
If there are so many Kentucky fans in New Orleans like the announcers say, then why do I see 5-6 entirely empty sections when they shoot the behind-the-hoop view.
I disagree very much there. I'll use the first example since the replay showed it clearly, and CBS is way too pussy to show/comment on replays of the 2nd one.
If the guy can get there and get planted first, it should be a charge, because he beat you to the spot and you've either got to go around or stop.
However, allowing for like *ANY* adjustment whatsoever, let alone a blatant step and lean as it occurs, is ridiculous.
You could very clearly see the charge coming, if Taylor (I think it was Taylor) held his line he would definitely charge, but... he adjusted to go around it without fouling, and the dude stepped into him as it occurred. Allowing that to become a charge is basically saying "oh don't worry about how easily a great player is going to go around you if you go all out on the shot, because all your frontcourt defense has to do is flail into them and get a charge."
I probably didn't do a great job wording it, I just don't see many situations where it is smart defensively to just get in front of someone with your feet planted firmly on the ground(again in my hypothetical world). There would still be situations where a guy is holding his ground and gets plowed into where a charge should be called.
Mainly I think if a guy is driving towards you and goes up for a shot, you should instinctively go up to block the shot, not run to where the guy is going and plant yourself.
I told you I'd have the last laugh![]()
