you dont even get teh final crystarium expansion until after you beat the boss, so don't worry
another seemingly random question I'll place in here.
To get the gold watch, the thing that increases 5star timing window, how do you get that? have to beat all the missions 1st?
Has so many exceptions it's not an observation worth making.
And here's where I disagree. Even with great strength and equipment, the wrong approach will lead to death at worst and a crappy rating a best. If this wasn't the case, a boss thread, final boss thread and shed loads of questions on "how do I beat xxx" wouldn't really exist. At least the answer to those questions isn't just "grind more" or "get better gear".
I agree strongly with Elcura's post. Most of the topics I've seen on here have been "I can't beat xxx boss, help!" and then someone responds "I did this, setup was this, do this blahblahblah" and then the person will often find that they were able to beat it with the new setup.
EDIT: To give an example in my case,

And running into a fight with the right strategy but ass gear and a poor crystarium will get you doomed if not smoked outright, tricks like "poison orphan" or "death neochu" notwithstanding.
The bottom line, for me, is whether someone could run through this game without leveling their crystarium, not upgrading weapons, etc. like how you can run through certain other FFs without leveling. I don't think you'd make it to chapter 9 and even if you could, that would be the end of the line.
There's always a limit, saying pure strategy will win all fights is wrong, because as you said (and I agree with) there are certain milestones and fights that strength will help with more than approach. But I also think there's a limit on how strong you can get and how many fights you can win just by brute force without thinking what you do.
I think the tactics to power balance is 70/30, if not 60/40. At the very least, I know and can agree with the fact that you need power to get by, but saying approach and strategy isn't important is just silly. Ultimately, once you get past gear checks, all that's left is strategy.
Why is there an argument about if it takes strategy or experience points/equipment to beat the game, when the answer is obviously that some degree of both is necessary.
Stop being retards and bickering about stupid shit.
Argue about somethng at least more entertaining.
Fang, Vanille, Lightning. Fuck, kill, or marry: GO!
wait til all 3 of them star in FFXIII-2
Is it just me, or does the Auto: Tetradefense tiara suck. Thought it would be awesome by hearing people talking about farming them... but the buffs last like 5 seconds. Whats the deal, why do people want these?
Do you mean mission 7? Rare drop is the Tiara (auto-tetra) which sells for 40k, common drop is the crown (critical: tetra) which sell for 15k, and it's easily repeatable with the cieth stone right next to where you fight the mob. Tetradic Tiaras/Crowns can also be dismantled/upgraded into Sprint Shoes, which give Auto-Haste.
Yea the buff duration is really short on Tetradic Tiara (although it can be extended with things like Hope/Sazh's augment weapons and synthesized abilites) so it's kinda useless to wear in comparison with Auto-Haste/Bravery/Faith especially if you're playing with a SYN.
