It would be nice to at least fight him without killing him (ala Barthandelus v1 & 2).
I thought FFXIII Versus was supposed to be the sequel? What's Versus supposed to be then?
A complete different story in the same universe.
they should make the sequel PS3 only![]()
Well that explains why this game has so much less content than most FFs -.- fcking stuiped Xbox....
If SE was so hellbent on releasing this in all its glory on the 360, they would have cut a whole lot more to fit it on 3 discs so the game would actually run at 720p on the 360 and not 576p.
I seriously don't think any of the deleted content had anything to do with making a 360 version, a 4th disc is easily made.
Also in all the cutting to 576p SE supposedly had 1gig of room left on disc2 and 3. Source was digitalfoundry? The site that analyzes games to death.
This. The only thing porting it to the 360 did if anything was delay the release date. Sony/FF fanboys just want to bitch about something. The game could have been absolutely perfect and they still would have bitched. And if you are seriously going to bitch about a delay in release date fucking QQ some more impatient bastards.

About the conversion of the cutscenes:
Square-Enix has bought in the Bink compression system for FFXIII on 360 and its failure in high-motion, colourful scenes does suggest a constant bitrate is being used as opposed to variable bandwidth that allocates more data to maintaining image quality on more complex scenes.
This failure is compounded by the fact that Square-Enix hasn't even made full use of all the disk space it has available. Around 1GB of storage is left empty on discs one and two of FFXIII, and you have to wonder why all that empty space couldn't have been repurposed for higher bandwidth encoding. Perhaps it's because of the background loading taking place while the cut-scenes play out, but regardless, the hit to quality using Bink is often unacceptably bad.
Yeah, it's really that SE is not very good at porting their own games. FFXI is a prime example of that as well. Where things could actually be done better on the 360 (or at least, optimized for the platform), they weren't.
Making Blu-ray video is great too, but as mentioned there, you can encode video a lot better than they did.
That's one of the big things. They used a ton of space on the Blu-ray for video, not for game assets. The article above says 32GB of video, presumably out of 50GB max for a standard dual layer Blu-ray. The 360 version, compressed video and all, fits into what, 18.4 of 20.4GB across the three discs (being that 360 discs have 6.8GB per)?
Sounds to me like the core game itself isn't exactly causing disc space issues.
I'd be lying if I denied that a small part of my enjoyment of FF13 has been the massive butthurt from 360 owners. How many articles did the gaming media write about how poor a job developers did when they developed a game for 360 and slapped together a PS3 port? Fucking none. One AAA game comes out that's a port from PS3 to 360 and all of a sudden the xbro world gets turned on its head.
If there's any truth to this "content cut due to 360 port" business I hope they stick to Versus being PS3-only, I don't want xbox limitations dragging that down too.
I don't think it's so much that the 360 version isn't quite as good. It's more the allegations that the existence of the 360 version caused the game to be released without x, y, and z...which to me doesn't seem accurate, as there are plenty of other reasons why the game was release as it is.
I agree to the extent that with multi-platform releases, having one that's "better" than the other is no surprise, and the PS3 was certainly due for one. However, if they're basically doubling sales by offering both versions, I would think they'll probably want to optimize their process rather than do exclusives.
Versus is suppose to be ps3 only.
Woo...if it manages to sell all 5 million shipped copies, that will make it just barely the worst selling FF(since 6/7).
You'd think the fact that their sales keep trending DOWN with each new game would tell them something...
Well, to be fair, there's also more competition.
Back in the day, Square pretty much was the RPG genre.
