    You could also try dreamspark.com . If you have an .edu/college/some high schools email address then there's a ton of software they're giving away for you, namely full versions of windows server 2003/2008/R2 and development stuff. You can make it work as a desktop by following some online guides for re-enabling a bunch of stuff that server normally has disabled. You'll be given the keys to use on the page with your download.
