    have you been able to rip these kind of anti theft protect case dvds?

    because my normal drive now, cant even read them.


    i just want to backup some old episodes from my library, but its being a pain in the ass. has anyone ever been able to rip their movies with these anit-theft protect case thingies on em?

    its clear seal cover with 2 very thin metal strips on the inside. here's a closer look.

    i think block buster used to do it, until it starting fucking up ppl's drives? idk. and i dont think netflix even does this




    my dvd/rw drive is like... 4 years old now though. im assuming i just need a more up to date drive

    anyone have any experiences ripping these?

    I don't have experience with those strips, but Netflix doesn't have anything on them. Most discs that come seem to be their own special copies that seem to burn easier than regular retail ones.

    yeah, for sure. im trying to burn a ton of TV season shows from my public library, lol. but it sucks ass that it cant even be read. im really thinking, its just the DVD/RW drive itself.

    Maybe try a program to force your drive to not read as fast as possible? Just an odd idea as I have no experience with those...

    hmm? i never even though of that, lol. what are some programs that can help with that? im a DVDshrink->dvddecrypter fiend onry.

    Something like this: http://www.cdspeed2000.com Used to be Nero Drivespeed, allows you to limit your drives read speed so that it doesn't sound like a jet taking off whenever you're just playing a disc. While that link is to something that isn't totally free, it's at least worth a shot to see if at 1x speed, the drive can read it at all.

    Or maybe you'll need to find a drive that can only read discs and not write them (pure reader only). Rare now though lol.

    easiest way to test the drive vs media is to try it in a different dvd drive really
