You're going to have to know your hit rate, fSTR2, and WSC.. You'd need the 3 AGI to be helping Det's raac (unlikely), and for that 3 AGI to be improving your WSC (likely).

For Slug though, you can use HQ Fowler's as long as you know the AGI is helping your hite rate, and you've checked to see it's also improving your WSC. You don't want to be using Fowler's +1 when you're 1 AGI short of upping your WSC, when you could be improving your fSTR2 with Amemet Mantle +1.

Would I get banned for trolling if this made me think that Bg's transformation into alla is reaching new stages?

I am awaiting a legitimate response to my argument from you please, I probably will never use greatsword on my drk unless I can see some extra-special good use for one, mostly because my scythe is already merited.

I find these forums to be an eye-opening, refreshing look at why one might use one item over another, or one job/subjob over another, which is why I posted the questions. I hardly believe it would resemble alla's...should we say, fragmented opinions(?)

To be on the short and sweet side, I would very much appreciate that you anwser with a valid point based on experience, not with insults and random changes of topic (eg grapesword drk? I can go to alla for that).

Um, also, my wife 'lol'd' at your sig, she thinks its karma or something.

The SJ has its uses in pickup party, you are not going to get BRD/COR/PL healer all the time. You only have access to limited gear selection at those leves. It's unlikely for a level 60 SAM/WAR without polearm merit/BRD songs/food to land all 5 hits of pentathrust on IT colibri consistently, i.e. spamming WS does not necessarily give you better result.

SAM/THF on the other hand get to eat pizza (attack bonus cap at 50 and 10% accuracy), will have better DOT and WS damage plus they can afford to wait for TA cooldown. TA WS gives your PLD tank free hate so that they can focus on DDing and save them MP. Even more important if your party is using a NIN tank. Better hate control let other DDs in your party deal more damage without pulling hate (e.g. keep Hasso up longer, use WS earlier etc). There is zero risk of getting one-shotted by PF too.

I have taken PLD, NIN, MNK and SAM to lv75. I have tested all kind of setup in pickup party. When it comes to exp/hr the difference between /WAR or /THF is negligible. On the other hand, hate control and MP usage is much better with /THF and makes tank's and healer's job less stressful. Of couse this is assuming that ppl actually do join pickup party and not everyone in this game only exp in DDx4, BRD + RDM + PL healers LS party.
stop playing in 2005 man. In 2010 all exp parties pre 75 are DD burned, there are always bards or cor in exp parties, or you just don't waste your time. Nobody wants tank, mobs die too fast for your mage's mp to dry out.

Question: What happens when you or one of your friends wants to level as a tank (pld or nin) in 2010, like, if you don't already have it leveled to 75 but you think you might enjoy being a 75 pld or nin? What do you do when you are, for lack of a better word, forced into using a traditional setup for party (or at least, tank, dd, dd, dd, healer, buffer or healer).

Edit: also, how will you, in 2010, level paladin to 99 in an efficient way (please don't suggest that one might campaign 2.2 million exp on paladin, it makes my brain hurt). Like, lets say SE decides not to change the game mechanics, will you have a bajillion level 99 Samurai, rdms, cors, and brds, but like no level 99 [insert underrated and not-for-tp-burn party members here]?

Yeah, that's worth noting. That said, I'd guess that if one exists it would be fairly easy to notice in the final ASA fight, no?

I'd say don't come to Fenrir, but I'm pretty sure he transferred...

I am curious about this pup ws setup now.... assuming A skill veg do you really think a dex build will be worth it? You need some pretty rare gear to pull it off but its pretty doable. I think I can hit 116 no food atm and nothing crazy gear swap wise. But still dont know if it will be worth it like on war since they are always usually capping acc/attack, whereas a pup will probably not be getting more than one attack buff ever thus leaving our attack pretty low.

Crits are more valuable when pDIF is low, not less.

w/ what I have, I think it'll be worth it, but haven't rly mathed it out, just in theory. Going to test it out when the update hits. Crit math isn't my specialty, so I'll let the parse do the talking on pummel averages.

For Y/G/K what would be better to WS in:

Two Vampire Earrings or one Vampire Earring and a Brutal Earring? This is of course at nighttime when the Vampire Earrings would take into effect.

because you always find a brd\cor, someone with the good lvl to sync on everytime you want to get xp ? personnaly i prefer 2h of slower XP than 1h of looking for memebers+1h of good xp (1st case i PLAY the game 2h).

I'm pre-planning my gear sets for BLM for when I hit 75 (currently 59) and I'm sorta new to resist builds for nuking. I'm not entirely sure how I should be gearing myself for HNMs. I know that 320/120 is a good building block, but what I don't know is should I aim for 320/120 minimum then stack MAB/INT in all extra spots..or..?

So I guess what I'm asking is..for my High resist set (HNMs) what should I be wearing given the gear I currently have access to:

    No Relic
    Have Oracles Head/Body
    No AF+1
    Have Nashira Feet
    AH Items are buyable

This is what I came up with, but it looks way too heavy on the ele skill/macc:

    Note: Elvaan

    Edit:

HNMs I'll be nuking: Tiamat, Cerberus, Khimaira, Sandworm, Ouryu.

With full merits, that's 329 ele skill, like 115 int, and 17 m.acc.. incredibly subpar. 320/120 is a guideline; 321/119 will give essentially the exact same results, as will 322/118. Aim for as much as you can get, period.. and if you must use the 320/120 guideline, don't count aquilo's toward it because you won't be nuking tiamat or cerb in it anyway. (Why the fuck would you nuke cerb/khim to begin with though?)

Change balrahn's to snow, get an elemental earring, hq your AF gloves asap, ice grip->bugard, and consider oracle's->errant if you're still getting resisted frequently. Sorcerer's Petasos, Merciful Cape, Witch Sash, and Nashira Crackows help, but I assume you don't have any of those.

I'd suggest looking at your stats minus the staff, gives you a better idea of requirements for all spells not just ice.

    Dyna-xarc for AF2 hat
    Limbus to +1 gloves
    Farm to +1 earring

Get an int ring to test it against the Balrahn's, I think it would perform better against HNMs.

What a stupid post. I have 13 lv75 jobs and Maat's cap. It will probably have taken me at least twice as long to level those jobs if I insist every xp party must have DDx3 + BRD + COR + RDM. By your standard, FOV is gimp, goblin's pet solo is gimp, Campaign xp is gimp too and BLU/BLM/PLD/NIN should not even exist in this game.
