I'm probably going to get flamed for this but...

Depends on what % your shield is procing @ on the mob.

Generally if you're doing crowd control blood tanking go w/ -pdt%

If your proc rate is capped or near cap go w/ shield gear

If your proc rate is total shit then pdt-%

For helix, it is nearly always better to stack INT, unless we're talking about swapping something like Novio vs Phantom+1.

For my gear (73+56+5 INT, 20+26 MAB, maxed helix+stormsurge merits vs Puddings), the difference is 175 vs 166 in favor of Mahatma for Cryohelix+Hailstorm. Even the Errant (172) is still better than RR. That's according to a damage calculator. In reality, I've rarely had those numbers match up right for helix; I usually do more damage than what it says I should.

I believe yigit gages >> all helix. On a similar note, I use yigit crackows over goliard feet and MKD head (4 int +2mab) over af+1 head.

It's mob dependant, but for ideal max damage situations I think 2 mab beats 1 int just slightly.

gallant +1, mhead (only gives 5 skill)

I believe someone did the math for valhalla helm vs mhead and valhalla came on top for pure damage mitigation.

I know it depends on total number of skill and CHR so here it is:

Choral cannions +1 setup: 107 CHR; 495 combined skill.

Bard's cannions setup: 115 CHR; 487 combined skill.

Am I right in assuming AF+1 wins here for most situations (Merits, Einherjar, Limbus)?

exact formulae are pretty much unknown, i would use choral most of the time(if it's similar to elemental magic you want 10 chr more than the mob has, and 107 should cover that on anything nonhnm)

Again, 90% of the time INT is the way to go. Helix have a base damage of 25. MAB is a multiplier while INT is added to the base damage. The lower the base damage of the spell, the less MAB helps you (1% of 500 is a lot more useful than 1% of 25).

I personally use Yigit Gages and Crackows over Mahatma Cuffs and Goliard Clogs. The math comes out to about the same with the rest of my gear for most of what I fight.
