I just want to add in on this thread before it starts, that to not use this as a "can my computer run this? heres mai specs". Think before you post, compare what you've got to whats posted already and if you really need help on upgrading your computer, we do have a tech forum for that very reason.

Well other than my graphic card being an 8400 instead of an 8800 I seem to have enough power.

Wish I had the money for some upgrades though.

Wow, my old pc had identical specs except for the cpu, (E8400).
Replaced it at the end of 09 with an i7 machine.

    OS: Windows 7 Ultimate. x64
    Cpu: Intel i7 920 (2,66gb)
    CPU cooler: Cooler master V8
Mobo: EVGA X58 Tri-SLI (can Crossfire too)
    RAM: Corsair Dominator 1600, tri-channel 6gb
GPU: 2 EVGA GTX260 core 216 in SLI. (wonderful cards)
PSU: Gigabyte Odin 800w. (cool thing. modular and has an led on the fan.)
    Storage: 3 HDDs 1TB, 500GB, 250GB.
    Case: Antec 1200.
would have gone with HAF932 but got this on a discount.

I'm almost thankful that my old PC was destroyed now that the game specs are out. probably in the future I'll get a couple of 80GB SSDs and Raid 0 them for FFXIV and OS when they drop in price...

Currently building a "Budget rig" for a friend to play the game, might as well post that too as a reference.

    OS: Windows 7 Ultimate
    Case: Thermaltake V9 black
    CPU: E8400 core 2 duo, 3gb
    Mobo: GIGABYTE GA-EP45-UD3P (Crossfire support)
RAM: Corsair XMS2 4 GB 1066mhz Dual Channel
GPU: XFX Radeon HD 5770 1 GB DDR5 (DX11 support?)
PSU: Corsair 750w (for when he goes Crossfire)
    1TB of storage space. HDD

Should be able to play the game on medium to high settings. could cut corners here and there to make it cheaper if needed.

Now all whats left is for SE to enlighten us about the game disk, will we need to upgrade to Blu ray?

I can already hear it's cackling laugh off in the distance. At least I can play on my PS3 until I need the FFXIV version of Windower/Spellcast. LOL

Do we know if SLI is going to be supported? I'm using 2 8800GT's in SLI right now.

I've got parts on standby for order. Just going to wait to closer to retail before ordering and building. I'm interested in seeing what the final recommended specs are going to be and am hoping for some price drops on i7s before I buy.

Oh what the hell... for those specs I can build a machine @400$ no problem and get sexy.

Well now that I think again, they did design this game for DirectX9...

I expect this to be on par with The Last Remnant:
    SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS:
OS: Windows XP SP 2 / Windows Vista SP 1
    CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo (2GHz) / AMD Athlon X2 (2GHz)
    RAM: 1.5 GB
Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce 8600 VRAM 256 Mb
    Sound Card: DirectX 9.0c compatible

    RECOMMENDED:
    OS: Windows Vista SP 1
    CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo (2.4GHz) / AMD Athlon X2 (2.4GHz)
    RAM : 2 GB
Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce 8800 VRAM 512 Mo
    Sound Card: DirectX 9.0c compatible
My guess is that if you can run The Last Remnant, you should be able to play ff14 too.

That was done with the Unreal Engine too. If I recall FFXIV is done with the White Engine. I feel like SE does better when they use their own internally developed engines.

Bit of a guess, because I'm more of a Sun type of guy than anything else, that the upper end of most brands of windows machines should be able to run this without any problem.

Really doubt that card is gonna handle it well. link shows a score for 8400gs of 87 while an 8800 is in the upper 400s.

These specs are similar to what I have (same CPU, board, memory w/ a Radeon 4870) so I don't see any it wouldn't run good. I'm even considering getting a second 4870 and running Crossfire just to see how good it'll perform.

i really hope they include crossfire/SLI support...it would be straight idiotic not to.

These requirements are insanely low considering they claim they are higher in the alpha.....

Hopefully SE wakes up and realizes that developing the game based on budget systems is completely backwards...im all for nicely scaled graphics support for budget builds, but on max settings this game better be a beast or a lot of people, myself included, will not be happy.

They're building it for the PS3, ergo, they're building it for budget hardware.

Can someone explain me the red sentence? Does that means that it redirects every patch you download (games update) to a folder in MyDocuments even if I install the game somewhere else?
IMO that just mean that SE dont know you can DL a file in an other folder than "my document"

"Downloading: 10GB on the drive containing the My Documents folder " that the file you DL from SE (installer)

"Installing: 10 GB" the "program files" folder you get when running the installer

(kinda like when you DL an iso)

Yes but, who cares for the start of the game? Sure having a good looking Game especially on Max settings should be absolut grinding your Hardware. And i think this game will not be possible to play on Max settings on "typical" systems people use today.

The only thing I'm concerned with when it comes to SE's situation is whether I'll be able to DL it at or slightly before launch rather than get a disc. I know they already do this with FFXI, but I don't want to hear anything about it being too much of a load or some crap like that.

No more than 100 inventory space due to PS3 limits!

also since they are locking the screen resolution to 1280 x 720
would it be safe to say that the rest of the graphics settings are also locked?

They may allow minimum graphical adjustments, but don't expect anything remotely close to beta/retail options.
