    quick car question

I had a girl moment this morning. Fiance's bro woke me up to move my car out of the driveway so he could move his car out of the garage so his mom could park in the garage (I just LOVE california driveways....). Anyways, when I pulled out I parked in the curb so I could go back to bed, but then the bro was like "no no pull back in the driveway since I'm leaving anyways."

So I go to pull in and I brushed my car with the palm tree next to the driveway. No scratches or anything but the turnlight cover broke off. (alskfdjsdlfkjsdlgkjsldgjksdg)

I did some searching and found it here:

    So two questions:

    1. The lights didn't break just the cover, but I had a hard enough time just finding that. Anyone here part/google savvy and know if I can just get the cover without the lights so maybe it's cheaper?

    2. I would imagine all I need to do is pop the cover back in but I don't want to order it and find out you need some special tool or glue or crap. So I'd rather be safe and sorry and ask is this just a pop in or something else?

Wait, I'm confused. Why do you have a car. You're supposed to be chained to the kitchen.

    Joking aside.

Usually you don't need any glue or special tool. Normally just need a screw driver or allen wrenches. As far as the cover, the only way I can think of to get it without the bulb and what not is to go to a junk yard, find a car that matches the make of yours, and take it off.

We have places like that were I live (U Wrench it etc). You basically pay for the part you take off, different parts cost different. Don't suppose that it would cost much. It would probably be easiest to just get the part from a store though, depending on what kind of car you have.

Edit: I see you got a 2006-2008 Beetle right?

    Theres one for slightly less.

Depends on the assembly. I'm guessing from the catalogue picture that the best you can do is buy a lens assembly without the bulb since the white enclosure and the lens look like they're not meant to be detached and won't be sold separately, which is typical for turn signal lenses. New blinker bulbs are usually only a few bucks so it probably wouldn't be worth the trouble of finding just the lens.

Junk yard suggestion is a good one though a bit of a hassle for a late model car.

Kk I'll get the whole thing then. 40 bucks is still probably cheaper than taking it to the dealers...

Tbh I don't know where they have those out here. I don't even think I've ever seen one since coming. Oh well.

It probably won't, but it should be pretty self explanatory and you probably won't need any tools but your hands. If you get confused get a more mechanically inclined friend to help you out.

For sure. Dealer would charge $60 for the light, and then $75 to spend 5 mins turning 2 screws.

What the fuck @ the Volkswagen's turnlight covers? Some stupid bitch hit me a couple years back (my fault technically, 16 yo girls dunno how to use the breaks), and the fucking turnlight signal broke off and made it expensive as hell. Fuckin' Volkswagen and their shitty manufacturing.

I'm gonna agree on this, like I said it didn't even scratch the car itself. In fact I didn't really "hit the tree" so much as one of those bottom leaves sticking out of it. Still pissed as fuck that I did it though. XD

If you go to your dealer they will have a parts and services section. You should be able to ask them inventory on parts, and they should be able to hook you up with just a cover. I did this with my saturn for a plastic door part. Problem is it didn't come with any screws

Goto your local dealer, and hit up the parts division.

Let em know you want to get a estimate on the part your looking for, and they can give you a part number. Take the part number, and start browsing google with it for a easier time finding the part for cheaper.

okayyyyyyyyy lmao so I got the light in today and the reason I couldn't just order the cover is because the cover is in fact glued to the light itself (which is how it stays on so I can't remove it) . So now I not only have to replace the cover, but the light itself. :/

    There is two wires sticking out of a cable that I assume is what you do the actually connection. I THINK if I take the other one out I can put this one in but wanted to see if anyone can find a guide on how to do it, before I seriously fuck up my light or something. @@;

if im understanding the question right, you need to replace a bulb in your headlight assembly, but there is no way to get to it from behind and you'd need to put it in from the front?
first, just make sure you can't replace it from inside the hood, but if you bake your light assembly (like literally bake it, throw it in the oven for a little bit so the glue melts) you can seperate them, and when you put it back together just bake it again, I did this when I blacked out my headlights and it's not as bad as it sounds.

orrr I could be completely off and thinking of the wrong thing and if so just ignore all of this

no I cracked the orange casing on the light itself which is glued to the whole part. (there is nothing wrong with the bulbs) I ordered the part, but I have to replace the whole thing, all the guides just tell me how to replace the bulb instead of the actual part.

I've seen this case before, you should get your headlight fluid levels checked out.
