    BG Cooks

I'm looking for some advice on maybe a cook book or some cook ware or something that I can get for a friend of mine. She's been in sort of a rut lately but she really does like to cook and I think it would cheer her up. I cook a little bit but I'm not really sure what a good idea would be here...

I've spent countless hours just reading through that book. The number of categories, and recipes in each category is excellent.

I see. Also, she's one of those "I eat fish" vegetarians, if that matters.

If she likes to cook she most likely already has The Joy of Cooking, so don't get her that

I would get her a book on Mediterranean cooking. That seems to be the new "hot" cooking trend, and being a vegetarian she'll most likely love it

I'd get her a cute cooking apron or something.

I agree with the apron. Maybe get something sexy so when she isn't wearing anything it barely covers the nipples and her ass shows

All pretty good ideas so far. I've been trying to figure out what cook books she already has cause I figure she already has Joy.

How advanced of a cook is she? Some recipies books have no pictures and for beginners are not the best idea. Also some types of food are incredible difficult like French Cuisine. Is she into ethnic food?

i recommend On Cooking book, it's what culinary art students use, they explain EVERYTHING before you go into a recipe. it's a pretty thick book but it covers just about everything. It also comes with DVD that have videos to show you how to do stuff too, from simple stuff to classical french, a little bit of baking/pastry.
    i have the 4th edition, i think there's a 5th one out not sure.

There's a lot of sites that let you do customized aprons as well if that's your fancy, my husband had one made last year that was a basic yellow apron but with smithing guild logo. If there's anything nerdy or peculiar she in particular likes you can get it printed on an apron instead of buying a ready made bog standard one. We used this site but I'm sure there are plenty of NA ones too:

And for cooking books, my favourites have for ages been Nigella Lawson's stuff. She's your typical English TV chef but her cookbooks are all about scrumptious often chocolatey plain sexeh foods. Not the healthiest fare but something you cook once every few weeks to spoil yourself.
I've had this book of hers for a few years and luv it:
    http://www.amazon.com/How-Be-Domesti...8952883&sr=1-5

This is another wicked delicious foods book, it shows the recipes step by step and makes even difficult things very simple (and you get anxious to try to make themselves just looking at the pictures) :

Sorry all the good cookbooks I know involve baking and muffins, brownies, cakes and such... I love the sweet things but shop bought crap is often wayyy too full of sugar and hydrogenated fat, preservatives and god knows what, at least when I home bake I can replace some of the bad things and still keep my sweet tooth happy.

The french laundry by Thomas keller or A 3 star chef by Gordon Ramsay are two books that come straight to mind. Even if the recipes seem to hard as a whole, each part has its own recipe and very clearly written, and can be made to go with whatever they are cooking for dinner, within reason of course!

Also prehaps a cookery course in the local area.

Something slightly different, has no recipes but a great book for anyone with an interest in food.
