    Missables/chests/bestiary guides?

I know that FFXIII doesn't have much in terms of missables, but I would like to make sure I get everything during my second playthrough.

From what I read the only true missables are elemental rings and bestiary entries which require you to spam Libra or wait long enough till they're filled, since the game doesn't allow you to backtrack to chapters 1-10.

I'm looking for an internet guide that covers this stuff, is there any?

nothing seems to require u to fill up the entire bestiary. nothing tells u how far its been filled either.

u only need 100 monsters for lore master trophy anyway.

I was afraid of this too but it seems a lot of monsters really just fill up on their own. So far when I check back, even though i didn't libra most monsters and only fought them a few times i did manage to get their stats in.

The ones I'd be more concerned about are the summonables..
My intel on the Targeting Beacon (Vile Peaks) is incomplete.. but im not sure if it can be filled by 'killing' more targeting beacons that supposedly can be found in eden.

People should have no issues getting Loremaster by the time Ch10 is done if they've been using Libra or Librascopes on each new mob they encounter.

Nah it's not for the trophy, already got it and barely used Libra at all during my first playthrough.
It's more of a "perfect file" kind of thing.

Loremaster aside (a lolgold trophy that I believe would be literally impossible to NOT get in the process of beating the game)...

I'm pretty sure there are a lot of mobs you can miss completing entries for in the first half of the game and never get to "check" them off your list, even if you did fight each group of enemies on your path along the story. Most common is all the different types of PSICOM and GC soldiers as there are some types that you only come across 1~2 ever without running around looking for repops.

I haven't libra'd more than like 5 mobs in the game. I did just get that huntmaster book (or w/e it's called) so I'll be throwing that on someone as I plow through the rest of the missions.

As far as I know, you can't get the intel on those beacons again. Like Katlan, I got it only because of an autokill from a blitz early on. Either that or it showed up during the vehicle portion. Either way, you get to see Targeting Beacon again in Eden, but it comes up with a separate intel note in the database.

Getting 100 is not difficult though. I had the trophy by the time I hit the beginning of Chapter 10. This is before you even get to see the hundred+ more mobs in the Pulse/Eden sections of the game.

i wasn't anal about getting full intel on all mobs. That one is in vile peaks just before the dreadnought fight IIRC. Its the one with 1 drone + 2 soldiers with bazookas if im not wrong. They'll lay the beacon and start firing at it.

Kinda glad i at least got that entry down. Its a completionist thing perhaps, but completely missable if you dont backtrack.

Another one i spotted is in Fifth Ark. I actually missed it, but thankfully I had a save in Fifth Ark just before the long and cool CS of entering Gran Pulse..

The mob in question is Ahriman. He's ONLY summoned by Imps. If you're good with your battles you should never even see one of these, which was what happened with me. So what I did was run all the way back till i saw an imp mob (3 way battle vs 2 Pulsework Knight >_> ) and killed the Knights and idled in Combat Clinic (MED MED SEN) or anything thats passive until one of them decided to call an Ahriman out. Libra-ed it, then killed them all.

That makes 3 category of missable Bestiary mobs imo.

    1. Targeting Beacon (Vile Peaks, and probably another one in Eden too, but its probably not important since you can probably backtrack there)

    2. Wyvern (Sunleth. Play with the weather to make it appear and actually fight it. You can actually avoid ever fighting it)

    3. Imp summons. Ahriman is the only one that matters since Fifth Ark is not revisitable. The rest of the imps are found on Pulse.

Does anything else other than chapter 10 Cicuitrons (thunder bombs) drop Bomb Shells?

Ok, was just making sure because all the sources I checked listed them as Circuitrons rare drops only.

Do you have to use libra or does the natural filling out of mob info by repeated fighting count too?

Cause if you have to use it, FFFFFFFFFFF I've missed so many

it will slowly fill up on its own. maybe 3-4 fights till it gets completed. With Libra you can do it in 1.

actually it can take multiple libras, or one librascope. only one libra leaves stuff like drop info, status resistances, and the little notes like "susceptible to deprotect" and such unfilled

yeah there are plenty of times when ill Libra a mob and it wont show a "check" next to its name. Sometimes u have to do it twice depending on what it drops

Killing an enemy will reveal a few random bits of intel about it, whether it be drops, elemental resists, status immunities, notes, etc. Casting elemental spells and status effects on it will slowly reveal those immunities and resists mid-battle as well.

Casting Libra will reveal all elemental resists 100% of the time, as well as some or all of the status immunities and some chunks of random other intel. It won't always reveal everything. If you know no intel at all, Libra will only reveal everything on some specific bosses. If you've already been fighting an enemy for a while, slowly revealing status/elemental stuff, one Libra might fill in everything that's still left unknown.

I've used Libra at the start of battle, been interupted by a spell or some random move. And after getting up to check the mobs intel screen, found it still blank, and had to redo another Libra costing me 2 damn TP instead of 1. Talk about a piss off.
