I'm waiting to see if there will ever be further exploration of Missy's explanation of her relationship with The Doctor in The Magician's Apprentice.

If she wasn't just fucking about, and this is all just a fantastic game she and The Doctor have been playing since childhood, that could have dark implications as to his real nature and how he really regards other lifeforms.

The first episode was much more promising than this one, which felt like it was just checking off things Moffat always wanted to see happen. I'm fine with him inventing new lore and defining things if it's going to play an integral part of the episode, but not if he just wants to screw around.

Human in a Dalek, which has almost no impact on the plot at all.
Doctor gives the Daleks regeneration energy purely to create deus ex escape.
Doctor potentially kills Davros (but not directly and probably not permanently so it's cool).

At least Missy is still a fun character, and even this past episode isn't as truly objectionable as that Robin Hood episode. Oh man, I still cringe just thinking back to that.


... I mean, compare basically anything in this season or the last season to Silence in the Library/Forest of the Dead or Blink. Both of those episodes were written by Moffat, but there must have been someone else on board stopping him from making them atrocious. What surprises me is that the series didn't immediately tank when Moffat took over. It only really started to suck in the last 2-3 seasons. I wonder if they had a backlog of edited scripts or something.

Missy discusses with Clara why the Doctor always has a way out. Effectively he always thinks he will win and therefore finds a way to win. This ties directly into giving the Dalek's regeneration so that he can escape. Clara in Dalek was solely to show how sadistic Missy can be, plus her hatred of the companions. I think Missy's hatred of companions is similar to the Joker's hatred of the Bat-Family, the sidekicks simply make the hero weaker.

So far the writing has been better than the last season. Going down the list for the first half of the season, you can see that each story is in two parts. I'm looking forward for the next episode now that there's some consistency with story telling (like the old season format, not series).

Yeah the whole season will be two parters which I believe they are experimenting with. If it is successful I expect them to keep this format. Also there was a push from the BBC to film two series in one year but Capaldi rejected it saying that the cast and crew was tired and the quality of the show would suffer since they had been filming since January.

That rumor has been going around for a few days now. Basically the rumor was that the Doctor would get seriously injured in this years Christmas special and he would try to fight off regeneration as much as possible through 2 specials in 2016 with him finally regenerating in the last special. Christmas 2016 would start with a new doctor and new companion and 2017 would be the start of their new adventures. This is just rumor though but I keep it pop up every other day or so.

I think a lot of this has to do with the fact that Sherlock begins filming in April so that means there is going to be a bit of a conflict. We may see a shortened season or specials because of this.

I kinda hate how the black guy gets killed saving a white girl, then when they are telling the doctor what happened, they just say "he got killed." It's like they couldn't be expected to be bothered with the details that he foolishly decided some lame deaf girls life was more valuable than his and he got himself killed being a "hero."
