I just watched episode one (not the 1960's episode 1). Entitled Rose. Please tell me this gets better.

definitely over plays the campy-ness at first but it gets a lot better especially once Tennant takes over. (nothing against Eccleston)

The first guy (I don't even want to try his last name) was good, for explaining the story which David Tennant expanded on. Most people find him meh, but without him, I think David Tennant wouldn't be as good. Especially the first episode, which felt rushed to me.

When I got introduced to Doctor Who my friend made me watch Tennant first then Eccleston, and I enjoyed it so much more... but I'm also the type who doesn't mind spoilers and explaining of past stuff while watching/during opening/end credits, if you're not like that watching it right from Eccleston probably works out best

Yes, the episode Rose was sort of rushed and felt cheesy to me *shrug*

    Spoiler: show
Though I loved his enthusiasm... 'Anti-plastic!'

Eccleston made a pretty neat Doctor, shame he didn't stay on for another series or two. There are some really good episodes in the 'New Who' first series, i.e. 'The Empty Child', 'Father's Day', etc, so yes, it does get better. Be warned though when it gets to series 2(+?) (Tennant's Doctor), yes there are some great episodes, but the wankery with Rose can get a bit tedious and too overplayed (not by fault entirely of the actors, but rather by fault of a certain showrunner at the time).

Back to the latest series, can't believe there's only four episodes left!

The first two episodes of the new first season (Rose and the end of the earth thing) were really shitty for me, but it picked up a lot after.

on a semirelated note, IPTorrents has a pack of all the Tom Baker episodes and I'm working through those. the next 3 are Sontaran, Dalek, and Cybermen, so should be a lot of fun.

I just re-watched the last ep of Dr Who on BBC3 and I have a bunch more observations and questions about that ep... which means I'm really looking forward to tomorrow!!

Spoilers for the last British episode:
    Spoiler: show
Rory wasn't part of the other peoples' history/world, how come they forgot him? Even in the episode the Dr says to Amy that she still remembered the lost soldiers from the Angel episodes because she wasn't from their history or their world.

Also, what caused the "distraction"; the bump of the tardis? I suppose it could have been the tardis landing after its travel, but it seemed particularly violent! Also, the ring case falling on the floor... yeah, no idea

I think how it works is:

    Spoiler: show
Normal people forget everything once it's gone.

People who have been exposed to the whole time traveling and doctory stuff, they don't forget the random stuff they see in their travels. But: Their own history is still subject to it.

If the normal people had gone off and seen "the whole universe and time etc" thing, and met Rory in some random planet, and that happened to Rory, I think then they would remember it.

    ..I think. Now I'm confusing myself. >_>

    Today's episode: *****

    Spoiler: show
It was nice to see something that didn't have a crack-in-time that we've been seeing, it was really a very quietly epic episode, sad to see it end. Longer than usual too!

Holy shit. I think I may have seen an episode that topped Blink. If you don't come close to shedding tears at the end YOU HAVE NO SOUL.
