I too don't get the Clara hate. I think she was written poorly for Capaldi's first season, but she's been a solid companion. She helped the Doctor a lot, and they traveled together for a long while. It felt like they had more adventures that they didn't show than most other companions, so I wouldn't be surprised if Clara was the companion that the Doctor traveled with the most since the Time War. And besides, aren't we all watching because of the Doctor, so his loss is what causes feels? Clara did so much for him and was with him for so long, him losing her is significant.

I didn't understand the hybrid twist. By that logic any companion with the Doctor is the dreaded hybrid. The entire episode was just full of holes and didn't make much sense.

He saved the planet by putting it in its own pocket dimension but it was still locked in the time war, they stressed the whole Clara is fucking up the universe but let's give her a TARDIS, the explanation of the confession dial was stupid, and Doctor forgot about Clara but remembered her anyways and then had a fucking art exhibit of her on his TARDIS

There's more too. The doctor is always badass but the plot holes are just way too much.

I think the only logical Hybrid explanation would have been River.

Considering the prophecy hasn't been fulfilled yet it really doesn't matter, the whole hybrid talk was purely speculative on the part of the characters. It could even be the Doctor and a future companion, or the Doctor and River in the future. Since the prophecy has not been fulfilled we won't know. The whole concept was showing just how far the Doctor will go for his companions, and at the moment Clara in particular, which made it plausible he would fulfill the prophecy.

Gallifrey was in a pocket universe, not pocket dimension. And it wasn't locked in the time war anymore (I don't think?), it was simply locked in that universe. But they found a way to get out. We're talking about an entire civilization that the Doctor is the star of, but he's not the only intelligent one of his species. As far as we know, he didn't really develop any of the tech he utilizes, he just knows great ways to utilize them. So the Time Lords likely got themselves out of that universe in some manner, and then they "hid" to avoid a rehashing of the Time War, as well as because as Clara said, they are hated as the Time War destroyed so many lives even outside of the Time Lords and Daleks.

Pretty sure Clara fucking up the universe is if her pulse got restored. Don't understand how the tech works to have "extracted" her from pre-death, but since she is returning to die at that point in time it won't fuck things up...unless she dies in one of her random adventures, that would likely throw a wrench in things.

Also pretty sure the art on the TARDIS was from Ashildr/Clara, since they likely sent the TARDIS to that spot for right after they left in their TARDIS, at least that was my impression. Or...it could be the TARDIS itself put it on. The TARDIS is a living entity and if Clara spent as much time with the Doctor as it is implied she did the TARDIS likely loved her as well, as the TARDIS personally cares for the Doctor, as we found out with the 10th.

It almost sounded like they were about to retcon the whole "the doctor is half-human" thing from 8th's TV movie back into canon for a moment there.

The Face of Bo reveal was far more interesting than Ashildr being the last being in the universe. Just my 2 cents.

Honestly, my main problem with this finale is that it didn't explain anything.
It didn't even attempt to explain how the confession dial made it from Trap Street to fucking Gallifrey.
It didn't explain why the Doctor would go 4.5 billion years to save Clara, yet he never even attempted to do that to half the other companions he's lost over the years.
It didn't explain who or what the hybrid was, and actually showed that even the Doctor had no idea who the hybrid was.
For a girl that has saved him so many times in the past, it's kind of ridiculous that he forgets all about Clara and the fact that she's the Impossible Girl. Also, wasn't the thing "human compatible"? So why did it have such a strong effect on him?
It didn't solve jack shit about Ashildr, other than the cool fact that she apparently survived billions of years without an accident and made it to Gallifrey at some point.
They used Gallifrey for all of 20 mins, in which the Doctor managed to become fucking President and then run away again just to save Clara.
And the most annoying part is that he wanted her to forget so that they couldn't get her.... well now HE'S forgotten, but she still remembers, so they could still be chasing her right? So what was the point of making her forget in the first place? Just keep traveling together.
And what the hell is with Missy? Are we just going to forget the fact that she disappears in episode 2 and that's it? I thought that she would make a comeback in the finale 100%, and other than a brief mention by Ashildr we didn't get any mention of The Master.
Oh and how about the fact that Gallifrey was lost, yet the Sisterhood of Karn just randomly pops in for a visit... that's nice.
Also, if they're time lords, why the hell did they need a crack in time to try and ask the question back during 11th's tenure? Couldn't they just get in a damn Tardis and ask him themselves? Since they clearly had the means of contacting Ashildr and giving her the trap for the doctor to lock him inside his dial.

With so many plotholes it just seems like this finale was all over the place and didn't really solve anything. Oh and apparently the Doctor is now going to just forget about Gallifrey and move on, after it took him 4.5 billion years to finally find it chilling at the end of time?

I was also disappointed by The Master being a no-show but guess they've saved that as future material to roll with.

Your concerns are mine. It's like Moffat writes these things specifically to really answer nothing while doing a whole lot of something. Gallifrey ends up just being a convenient place to forward the plot and undo any emotional impact of having Clara accepting her death.

If we were going to give Clara her own TARDIS, fine. But then why bother killing her off then? As it stands, her current status gives her infinite time to do Clara & Me adventures.
If we're going to kill Clara then ffs, keep her dead. Finality is a thing. It's what made Donna's departure so impactful.

Do we really need an explanation why the Doctor would do that for Clara? From the first episodes he met her where she died, then to go on to find out she was only there in those cases because she jumped into his timestream to save him, and the fact that put her alongside him since telling Hartnell he was stealing the wrong tardis...it kind of makes her special to him in a way nobody else ever would be.

Also speaking of Hartnell there was an interesting reference, that Susan was really the president's daughter? I forget the exact wording but he was correcting some misconception involved with him running away to the effect that he ran off with the president's daughter.

Wasn't Susan his granddaughter? If that's the case AND what was said last episode is the case...does that mean The Doctor was the father of the President...?

Or refer to rule #1. The Doctor lies. And then she wasn't really his granddaughter and was either in on the lie or was somehow convinced of it.

Overall, it could have been worse. At least there were clever bits.

    Still...
    Spoiler: show
I didn't understand what was even potentially going to happen when they both touched the memory erasing thing. Felt like a deus-ex-Moffat special.

Also, it only partially erased his memories of Clara? That was definitely not an outcome I would have predicted.

PS. What did she tell him in the catacombs? I feel that we were supposed to infer it from the song he was playing, but I didn't feel like figuring out what that song was.

PPS. I hate his fucking guitar. We get it brah, you can play guitar.

My guess is that Clara was deleted, but not what he did with Clara. So he knows that a Clara existed and he traveled with her, but he forgot all conversations with her and images of her. But I guess it was a big deus-ex-Moffat special.

"Run you clever boy and be a Doctor" is what I assumed.

My take on that last scene with Clara was that she was attempting to give the Doctor some way of jogging his memory of her. Hence why she told him she's sure someone will find his TARDIS, and then seconds later disappeared to the TARDIS sound, making him understand that someone had just used a TARDIS near him, then he saw his own machine with the girl's face painted on it, and the line that she told him back in the catacombs written on the board, as a way of letting the Doctor know that the girl he had just met was indeed Clara.

    Googled for the transcript:

    Spoiler: show

Waitress: What Clara told you in the Cloisters...
The Doctor: I don't remember a single thing about it.
Waitress: You said memories... become stories when we forget them. Maybe some of them become songs.
    ( He resumes strumming )
The Doctor: That would be nice.

Apparently the song is just being called "Clara" by people on the interwebs, but it doesn't sound like it's "Clara's theme (The Impossible Girl)." So yeah, maybe there is just nothing there.
