Disney is partially to blame because they have a two year distributing deal that just ended and the BBC is waiting around to see if they will renew because they got part of their budget from Disney.

Ncuti bounced because he didn't want to be attached to the series that isn’t consistent with their filming schedule and bes getting a lot of offers from Hollywood. He wanted out and they had to reshoot the ending a few months ago.

An episode that ends with a regeneration has "And introducing {actor} as Doctor Who" even in the case of Capaldi and Tennant. But this one only said "Introducing Billie Piper."

Because she’s not staying. They needed someone to quickly fill the spot without auditioning for the role because doing so would have signaled that Ncuti quit/was out. There will probably be some explanation, but I expect that she has a few specials while they seek out a replacement. I have a feeling that Ncuti wanting out was not expected so they had to pivot and this was the best option. Hopefully they can lock in a new actor for longer than 3 seasons.

Ncuti was my first Doctor so I don't have anything to compare it to, but I really did enjoy the show for the most part.

My main issue overall though was that a lot of stuff just gets solved without any sort of build up or foreshadowing as to how. I was actually surprised when the Vindicator came into play in the season finale since the entire first season was built around the mystery of Ruby's mother and then the big bad was beaten with a rope and a spoon. Actually using the thing they established previously was a welcome change.

you should watch the 10th and 11th doctors of the new generation. Matt Smith was one of my favorites and I liked Moffats time as showrunner.

The funny thing about this whole thing is that there was a different ending:

The original ending was that after the defeated Omega and the Rani, they all went out dancing at a club and it would’ve ended with Susan being there looking on and the Doctor noticing her and we would’ve just had a cliffhanger with that. But Ncuti wanted out because while there was a gap planned after his second season which allowed him to do other projects, that gal went from a set time to an unknown time so he had to do what was best for his career. The episode we got was the result of reshoots that took place in January. He will go down as one of my favorite Doctors who sadly suffered from bad writing. I look forward to his latest movie with Benedict Cumberbatch and Olivia Coleman which has a pretty stacked cast already.

9 is kinda required viewing for 10. Off the top of my head, 11 has a bit more separation from 10 with the exception of Silence in the Library and, to a lesser extent, Blink.

Both of those stories were written by Moffat during RTDs tenure as showrunner. Both of those “monsters” are some of my favorites but I don’t like how the angels were portrayed on the Byzantium since it was different than other versions. I also wish the Vashta Nerada made another appearance.
