Wouldn't that have happened in ~2005, so before that they still existed? Since this took place in 200AD, they would have still had time to join the Alliance before they died. I still get confused about time line things like this lol

As for "the silence will fall", wasn't that just a reference to the universe exploding? I assumed so since if the universe was gone, there'd be no sound. Why so many things knew that though I guess could be interesting.

It's been suggested by fans that the unseen force is the Time Lord Omega, who was trapped in the negative reality of the same black hole that powered the Eye of Harmony. The Doctor had encountered him twice in the past in the Third Doctor's storyline "The Three Doctors" and the Fifth Doctor's storyline "Arc of Infinity".

These rumors stem from from apparent concept art of an armored figure with gauntlets etched with the words Omega on them, but the source, or even the existence of this concept art, is unknown. As for who would be playing Omega, it's been further suggested that it'd be Jason Isaacs, given some script meetings he's had with Steven Moffat, though whether it's for Doctor Who or some other Moffat show is unknown.

I'd personally like to see Omega return, as he was always one of my more favorite single villains in the series, and an update for him would be amazing if done correctly.

I just watched Doctor Who Confidential, and they said that the next series will be about what the Silence is, so I doubt it was just a reference to the empty space (as well as more River Song).

wasn't the doctor getting out a paradox. he had to be out to give rory the sonic, who had to have the sonic to get him out. did the vortex manipulator not have built in paradox prevention, or is it just accepted as timey-wimeyness? or did I miss the explanation?

Cybermen are actually a lot better then the Daleks imo.


Whats sad is some of the enemies in the earlier series probably wouldn't be around today if it wasn't for the Nostalgia behind them. Back then they might have been great for the budget and technology of the time but by today standards they're pretty weak.

I've been thinking about it, and I think Sontarans have come out the best of all the old menaces.

Only problem I have with the Sontarans is I don't really find them scary ever. They don't have a menacing voice like Daleks or Cybermen and they just look too funny in general.

Oi. So thinking about Silence will Fall...

Going back to the series 5 premiere... The multiform, it knows about the cracks -AND- the silence. Not only that, it also knows about the Doctor and the Tardis (the Tardis is never mentioned by name, but the multform says "The doctor and (or in?) the Tardis - doesn't know" :3

Just trying to think, there must be clues all throughout the series about what's coming up (sort of like Bad Wolf / Harry Saxon, in the previous seasons), wonder if anyone has compiled them?

Johnny Depp as a lizard with an identity crisis? That we can get behind. But Johnny Depp as a Time Lord ... that we're not so sure of.

And yet that's what we might be seeing on the big screen a few years from now if the info uncovered by tor.com is correct.

An article at pubarticles presented the project as fact and reportedly passed on the following news:

Long-time producer of the television series Russell T. Davies reported that the reason he moved on from the show was due to the opportunity to transform the Doctor to the big screen. "Bringing the Who franchise to the theaters is a regeneration for the character beyond the usual one. A theatrical release has a greater range and can reach millions of more people than just the fans. There will be brand new concepts and the film will be just as adventurous, scary and humorous as the television programme. But none of us working the film will forget what makes the character great and interesting and the long-time fans will not be disappointed because yes, the Daleks make an appearance."
We'd love to provide you with a link to the original article so you can check it out for yourself, but we can't, because it has since been taken down. Which by itself would lead us to believe that this is nothing more than one big, fat rumor.

But the trustworthy tor.com did some digging on its own, reaching out to studio sources who said that "the casting of Johnny Depp as the Doctor for a 2012 film is confirmed."

Even though we're not sure what to make of it all, we thought you'd want to know about it. But whether or not it's true, would you be ready for a Johnny Depp Doctor Who?
