It's the same crazy-ass 51st-century religious army dudes that've been seen in earlier episodes. No idea why they want to kill the Doctor now though.

The only point of reference for what era this army hails from is the fact that Dorium is present and we've only ever seen him in the year 5149. But we don't know if either the the army or Dorium have travelled in time to get to Demons Run.

And as for the reason this army considers the Doctor such a threat, probably something to do with the Silence, since they're the once who end up in custody of River Song (If the little girl in the space suit is of course her)

I'm loving Matt Smith as the Doctor more than I thought possible. Seasons 5 and 6 have just been amazing, even though the ending of the last episode wasn't as big a deal as I thought it would be. I can't wait to see what happens in the fall.

Just finished watching all of Doctor Who(2005-) via Netflix and..other sources. Fucking awesome. I miss the lower production values and camp-ness of the earlier stuff but Rory, Amy, and the Doctor make a great team.

And yes, I wish CE had gotten more than one season as the Doctor.

And I hated Martha Jones. HATED. The actress was good but the writing for her was pretty bad.

PS - Someone should have told me about the retarded production schedule before I watched S6.

Might get more retarded. After they come back to finish off this season, there is a strong possibility that 2012 will be nothing but 4 Holiday specials and then back to a normal season in 2013.

The 11th doctor sometimes reminds me of the 9th. 10th was always about compassion and understanding, and while that's somewhat true about all incarnations of the Doctor, the 9th and 11th have a lot more anger in them.

Is there anywhere that says how much time there is between the 8th Doctor reincarnating and the series starting back up? It seemed like the 9th Doctor was alone so long that when he finally found Rose, he decided she was worth all the fighting. The 11th Doctor just seems more brash in his decisions. Also, the 10th Doctor seemed to be more goofy and lighthearted, which wasn't bad but he just kept trying to save everyone.

Also, I hated Martha Jones as well. She got some crossover on Torchwood I wasn't too thrilled about either. Donna Noble wasn't much better, but I liked her more towards the end.

It's implied in the first episode of the new series, that the 9th Doctor hadn't seen his face before. That's about it, I think.

Martha's actress stars in Law and Order UK, which I thought was pretty interesting to watch because of her (and Apollo from Battlestar Galatica)

Donna Noble wasn't much better, but I liked her more towards the end.

Rewatch that season and you'll love Donna. I hated Donna my first watch through but when I rewatched I loved Donna.

I don't know the exact amount of time, but I can tell you it was a lot of time...

The eighth doctor was one of his longest incarnations. Even though we only see that incarnation in the 1996 movie, he went on to have many other adventures through audio dramas and a series of novels and comics. The Eight Doctor was also the incarnation that was involved in the Last Great Time War against the Daleks where he killed the other time lords because he found out that the president wanted to destroy time in order to ascend to a higher level of consciousness to win the war. It is suggested that he reincarnated into the 9th Doctor somewhere towards the end of the events of the Time War, and there isn't really any indication of what happened or how much time had passed after he became the 9th doctor.

I HATED Donna when she was introduced in that bride episode, I think it was a christmas special, but she was really good when she became a companion. But I HATED her final episode, it was so hard to swallow when she was kicking ass by typing-_-

I liked rose a lot too, especially as the second season went on. I rewatched the first episode of the new season a bit ago and it seemed really awkward lol, but I just love the 9th Doctor. I'll prolly watch through again before this season is done.

And yeah, the only thing I liked about Donna was she was willing to push an issue with the Doctor. I did see L&O:UK before I started watching Doctor Who, and I don't mind her in that show. Just the character Martha Jones really wasn't interesting to me.

Thanks for explaining that Tummie. I saw on the Wiki that the 8th Doctor had a lot of other media after the movie, but I don't think I'll get around to any of it probably.

I liked Martha, but that was probably because Freema Agyeman is so damned hot.

It broke my heart that the writers mostly treated her as a +1 or transitional, where Rose and Donna had so much bigger roles in the greater story arc. The entire time she kind of harbored an inferiority complex, when really she was a great deal more amazing than she gave herself credit for.

Donna is (in my opinion), the best companion of the new series--not my favorite, but the best. She was clever, sharp, and sensitive without seeming pansy. Best of all: she had no attraction to The Doctor whatsoever. All of the above made her departing circumstances ridiculously tragic.


Like was mentioned, the first episode implied The Doctor had only regenerated into his Ninth form recently, so recently that he hadn't even seen it yet. It'd be bitchin' to see a story involving the Eighth Doctor and the Last Great Time War, his intended last act being to destroy both Daleks and Time Lords and Time Lock the event, but just barely escaping and regenerating at the last minute.

No kidding, Martha wasn't given the chance to shine imo. The writing for her was sub-par at best.

Eccs, Martha, Mickey and Donna and some amazing episodes were all that were keeping this show alive for me until the current cast came along. Rose and Tennant bored me to tears, robotic acting from both of them, although Tennant broke out in the episodes in which his emotions took him to wild extremes, like the Moon Base and Family of Blood.
