    Great episode but definitely going to need to watch it again asap.

    I loved the scene in the TARDIS with the old companions. The Doctor carries around all this guilt but we rarely get to see it.

    My theory of it is that it was the Child version of River who kills the Doctor on April 22nd 2011. But they know, even if they killed him then, he's a time traveler and there are still 'versions' of him out there prior to this. So she's probably programmed to kill the Doctor she meets at any point and time. Also, as a child, she wouldn't have really known what she was doing and all that jazz. Thus why the older version was able to overcome her programming and risk herself to save him.

    Then again, this could all end up being a great plan of the Doctor and he uses River to kill him on April 22nd 2011 but it's not really him, it's just a Clone. Fool them the same way they have tried to fool the Doctor and his crew.

    I think this is just earlier in her timeline still. So far she's 'younger' than present River Song in her life and doesn't know her future. As her timeline progresses, she'll eventually end up back at that point when she's 'older' and then kill the Doctor on the beech and end up in prison for it. We never really saw the little girl inside the astronaut costume at the beech and she was basically shot and rejuvenated just after it.

    That's the handiness of someone in a full suit (see, The Stig). It can be anyone, all we know is the (future)Doctor "Knows who it is". It does NOT mean the suit at the lake had little girl Song in it. We can only prove the suit in the Nixon era had Song in it.

    A trick to keeping everything straight is to ignore the dates when things happen, but use the continuity of a charater's life as your timeline.

    Also whats up with river getting shot during regeneration and saying something about they should know better, nothing happens to her? yet shooting the doctor at the lake during regeneration kills him? clues clues!

    River was shot in the period after regeneration when a Time Lord can heal wounds. See: Ten's hand getting cut off and growing back.

    Eleven was shot before he had a chance to actually regenerate.

    As for the suit I think he realized he needed a sonic and went for the cane. So what the hell? Might as well put a suit on lol.


    But it is Moffat so anything could mean anything.

    They did, actually. Vaguely in Series 5. The Doctor had a bit of a revelation (I forget what was said exactly), when he mentioned "the giant Cyberman over Victorian London" and such. It was covered, although very briefly.
