If true, that's a pretty huge spoiler that they just threw out there for no reason.

Well everyone's wearing one it looks like in the episode so the promo pics can't help but show them, therefore leading to the speculation above. Unless they've all become pervs and the eyepatch is secretly an x-ray device that lets you see through clothing.

I quite liked it, but I get why it happened. It seemed like for 3/4 of the episodes, they were struggling to fill the hour. They were basically on a bunch of obscure people in the "Follow the crew" section of the show, which was a big part of it. There was only 2 or 3 episodes a run that really seemed interesting, and that was usually the opener/closer and one of the other 'big' episodes.

I did Xopher, thanks. I figured someone would make the Doctor's timeline go forward, but whatever. I'm now sad again.

Qalbert, you are a gentleman and a scholar for posting all those megaupload links for all current new series. I've recently gotten my girlfriend into watching this current season and being able to easily download last seasons episodes means I can show her all the awesomeness that that Matt Smiths Doctor.

In other news; fuck'n psyched for tonights episode. I'm hoping it won't answer all questions because I'd love to see the Silence arc span three seasons. They are my favourite baddie now, and this is from someone who's been watching since he was a kiddie (<3 Tom Baker)

So, so much filler and next to nothing was resolved outside of River/The Doctor's relationship. Some really poorly thought out dialogue too. River tells Amy that her killing someone was okay because that timeline didn't matter and then mentions her marriage to The Doctor in that timeline a second later and no one blinks?

River was practically programmed for murder and mayhem, on top of being an intelligent and generally reckless Time Lord. It's not a stretch to think she's going to wave aside Amy's murder of the woman that kidnapped her and raised her to kill The Doctor, especially since it technically never happened (which must mean eye-patch lady must still be out there somewhere). And the marriage thing? Come on, this is The Doctor. Amy and Rory are used to stranger from him. He did marry Marilyn Monroe in the space of the last Christmas special, after all.

I personally think some of the most entertaining episodes are comprised of filler, and this one delivered. I can live with the revelations regarding the Silence waiting for yet another season. Frankly, it's one of the handfuls of new and recurring enemies since the series restarted, and this one has more teeth than either the Daleks or Cybermen. The bit that gets me is the "question" what's supposed to be so special. I'm curious as to why it can never be answered.

Also, Rory goin' hard yet again.

The part where the Silence was about to kill Rory made me smile. The whole bit about him dying over and over. I'mma be sad to see no more Rory D:

Just finished watching this with my gf tonight

    Spoiler: show

I went back and listened to what Dorian said:

"On the fields of Trenselor at the Fall of the Eleventh, when no living creature could speak forcely or fail answer; a question will be asked. A question that must never ever be answered"

We know that "Silence will fall when the question is answered". The interesting thing is looking back at the last series, we were told during the first episode of S5 from prisoner zero "The Pandorica will open; Silence will Fall". When the Doctor travels throughout time, he is very "loud" and though his intentions are good for the most part, he seems to cause a negative effect on the universe. Last season, the exploding Tardis caused cracks in the universe (possibly due to the silence piloting the tardis?) and he had to reboot the whole universe. This season, he (technically River) caused time itself to be stuck at 5:02pm while the universe was being deleted.

The Silence refer to themselves as the guardians of history, so it's possible that they can see what was, and what will be and are doing their best to protect it and see the Doctor as a threat. Or it could be possible that they see the Doctor wiping their entire existence from time and space.

I don't think that the message this season is geared towards defeating the Silence. I see it as more of a warning.

    This is just an example/speculation
    Spoiler: show

On the fields of Tensalor - Could be a planet or place we have yet to visit

At the fall of the eleventh - This could be referring to the 11th Doctor and his possible death. (Remember Matt Smith's first episode as the Doctor was titled "The Eleventh Hour"). In the past, the writers foreshadowed the 10th Doctors death when the Ood told the Doctor that his song will end soon and the prophecy of "He will knock four times" which turned out to be Wilfred knocking on the window to get the Doctors attention to get him out of the room where the radiation would be dumped. Of course he saves him by taking his place thus fulfilling the prophecy.

when no living creature could speak forcely or fail answer - This could be anything so im going to just speculate that something dramatic happens and the doctor is responsible.

a question will be asked - The person or entity realizes it's someone called "The Doctor" and asks "Doctor Who?"

A question that must never ever be answered
    - to which the Doctor responds "Me, I am the Doctor"

    And is then killed

Also, if the question really is "Doctor Who" remember that Doctor Who is an Anagram for Torchwood.

    Spoiler: show
First and foremost I was able to guess how they planned on having the Doctor survive being killed by River the moment they showed the second clip of the Tesselector in the recap (when the Doctor is heard saying that it's being controlled by miniature people). Rarely is something shown in the recap that doesn't have some impact on the episode itself, and while the first clip with the Tesselector I could contribute to just being part of them confirming that it would be River killing him, the second one made me realize that it was likely going to have a very big impact on the story, far bigger than just supplying the Doctor with information early on the way it did.

As for the question, I think it's in reference to his actual name and not quite just him revealing himself as the Doctor as you suggest it might be Tummie. Since the very first episode of Doctor Who, "An Unearthly Child", there has been an extremely long running "joke" as to who the Doctor really is, and it's been suggested multiple times (especially around the time of the 7th Doctor) that his name wasn't something he just chose to leave behind, but that it is a very dangerous secret that should never be revealed.

-Lady Peinforte in the 7th Doctor episode "Silver Nemesis" revealed that she possibly knew who the Doctor really was, and that he wasn't just another Time Lord (which he himself attested to in the episode "Remembrance of the Daleks").

-In the 10th Doctor episode "A Girl in the Fireplace", Madame de Pompadour, in reading the Doctor's thoughts, suggested that his name was "more than just a secret".

-In the 10th Doctor episode "The Shakespeare Code", the Carrionite Lilith was unable to derive his name with her witchcraft, commenting that "There is no name. Why would a man hide his title in such despair?"

-In the 10th Doctor episode, "The Fires of Pompeii", the one girl given soothsayer powers from inhaling the ash of the Pyroviles commented that Doctor wasn't his real name, and that his real name was hidden under the Cascade of Medusa herself.

I think that it's the Doctor's true name that the Silence fear will be revealed, that it is somehow so terrible a secret that the Doctor must die to prevent it from being revealed

The Doctor is actually God. If he somehow finds out/remembers, the fabric of space and time is ripped apart at the seams. True story.

okay, but there is one problem with that
    Spoiler: show

I think it is a well established fact that if anyone on the show is God, it is obviously going to be Rory. I mean honestly. . .
