So they didn't mention it in the last episode but didn't like 200 years pass in the Doctor's personal timeline between "The God Complex" and the finale?

^ I'd need to rewatch it again for a more solid answer but I always assumed it was the Doctor running from his death and delaying the inevitable whilst just generally dicking around in space and time along the way.

I think it is a well established fact that if anyone on the show is God, it is obviously going to be Rory. I mean honestly. . .

    Good point.

Yeah, the 200ish years passed for The Doctor between 'The God Complex' and 'Closing Time'. Which, considering the life span of his recent regenerations, is remarkable.

Wasn't it more like 100 years? It's been a while since I saw the episode but wasn't the Doctor who 'died' 10-- and the younger Doctor that was sent there to carry on in America 9--?

Just rewatched the premiere. The Doctor "dies" at 1103 years-old; he learns about his death at 909 years-old.

Righto, thanks for that. Seems like such a long time to hand-wave away as travelling.

10 did the same(Delaying his 'death' before going to see the Ood about their 'dreams'(The End of Time pt.1)*), though not on the apparent scale of 11.But then, rule #1 "The Doctor lies."

    *
Ood Sigma: You should not have delayed.
The Doctor: Last time I was here you told me my song would be ending soon, and I'm in no hurry for that.

The timeline of River Song from her point of view was part of the Dr Who Confidential and can be seen here:

    http://blastr.com/2011/10/watch-river-songs-timelin.php

I watched it and for the most part seems accurate but I have some issues with it.
    Spoiler: show

The timeline they present is as follows - The bolded items are what seem out of place:

    - Melody is born at Demons Run
    - Melody is kidnapped and taken to an orphanage in the 1960's
    - She breaks free in 1969 and regenerates into Mels
    - She somehow ends up in the UK and befriends Amy and grows up with them waiting for the Doctor
    - When The Doctor shows up and takes them to 1938, Mels regenerates into River
    - River gives up her remaining regenerations to save the Doctor from the poison lipstick
    - The Doctor takes River to the year 5123 and she studies to be an archeologist at Luna University
    - Kavorian shows up and puts her back in the space suit in 2011
    - She "kills" the doctor after learning in the parallel universe that the Doctor has a plan to fake his death
    - River is imprisoned for "killing a good man" in somewhere in between 5123 and 5145 but most likely the later
    - While in prison the future Doctor pulls her out of prison on her birthday for Ice Skating on the Thames
    - She uses a vortex manipulator and goes back to Demon's Run to reveal her identity
    - She goes back to her prison cell and invitation to Utah 2011. She uses her Vortex Manipulator to get there and witnesses the Doctors Death
    - River is returned to her cell and kisses the doctor (his first her last)
    - River gets a call from Churchill and leaves a message on the rock face (Pandorica Opens)

    - River is in the custody of Father Octavian and investigates the Byzantium. At the end River is pardoned and she uses her vortex Manipulator to tell Amy and Rory in 2011 that the Doctor is still alive.
    - River's memory is stored in CAL in the episode "Silence in the Library"

The problem I have with the bolded sequence is the fact that River obtained a Vortex Manipulator from Dorium in "The Pandorica Opens". Also since Dorium is alive and not headless, this would also indicate that the events of Demons run occurred well after she obtained the Vortex Manipulator (VM), possibly 52nd century.

River uses the VM many times notably when she goes to reveal her true identity, and also she is seen wearing it in the episode Day of the Moon. Not only that, but strangely, the outfit she wears at the end of "Day of the Moon" is the same thing that she wears when she goes to tell the Ponds who she really is. This could possibly mean that after the events of Day of the Moon, she revealed her identity back on Demons Run.

Starting from when she was put in prison, I think the history timeline should be re-written as:

    - While in prison the future Doctor pulls her out of prison on her birthday for Ice Skating on the Thames
    - River gets a call from Churchill and leaves a message on the rock face using the VM obtained from Dorium in 5145(Pandorica Opens)
    - River goes back to her prison cell and later gets an invitation to Utah 2011. She uses her Vortex Manipulator to get there and witnesses the Doctors Death (Impossible Astronaut/Day of the Moon)
    - River is returned to her cell and kisses the doctor (his first her last - Day of the Moon)
    - She uses a vortex manipulator and goes back to Demon's Run to reveal her identity (A Good Man Goes to War)
    - River is in the custody of Father Octavian and investigates the Byzantium.(Crash of the Byzantium/Flesh and Stone) At the end River is pardoned and she uses her vortex Manipulator to tell Amy and Rory in 2011 that the Doctor is still alive. (The wedding of River Song)
    - River's memory is stored in CAL (Silence in the Library)

So, when River tries to alter a fixed point, time gets stuck at 5 PM. When the 10th Doctor tries to do the same by saving a few lives in The Waters of Mars, it just corrects itself by killing the people anyway. Hmm.

I was under the impression that the main person in the fixed point in Waters of Mars killed herself in order to maintain the fixed point, because she was disgusted that the Doctor tried to change it, whereas the Doctor wasn't about to kill himself, and River stopped herself from doing it. The time-reaper-things are obviously on hiatus, so all it could do was say "fine, just have everything in time at once, tossers"

    what the fuuuuuuuuuuck
    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/culture/t...vid-Yates.html
David Yates, director of the Harry Potter films announced he will be making a big screen version of long running BBC sci fi series.
He said he has started a search for writers to plot a new chapter for the ageless doctor.
It is unlikely Smith, who plays the current Doctor, will land the lead role.
Yates said the new film will not follow on from the popular TV series and hinted the Harry Potter scriptwriter Steve Kloves could land the job of writing the new film.
"The notion of the time-travelling Time Lord is such a strong one, because you can express story and drama in any dimension or time," Yates said.

The film will be made in co-operation with the BBC where the TV series ran from 1963-1989 before being relaunched six years ago.
The reboot of the long running series by writer Russell T Davies and Steve Moffat has proved a success both in the UK and America where it has a cult following.
He took over from David Tennant who relaunched the series after it was revived by the BBC in 2005.
Yates said the film would stay loyal to its roots even if an American writes the script.
"We want a British sensibility, but having said that, Steve Kloves wrote the Potter films and captured that British sensibility perfectly, so we are looking at American writers too," he told the Hollywood trade paper Variety.
The Los Angeles based unit of BBC Worldwide will be involved in the production of the film which is at least three years away from hitting the screens.
"We're looking at writers now. We're going to spend two to three years to get it right," Yates said. "It needs quite a radical transformation to take it into the bigger arena."
Yates directed the final two parts of the Potter series, "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows" as well as "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix and "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince".

The long-running sci-fi show has already spawned two films - Doctor Who And The Daleks from 1965 and Doctor Who: Daleks' Invasion Earth 2150 AD from 1966, which starred Peter Cushing as the Time Lord.

No, it really doesn't need a transformation. It's fantastical and over-the-top, Doctor Who is a sci-fi/fantasy/adventure movie, compressed into serial form.

Here: bring back the Eighth and Ninth Doctors, and make a film out of the Time War. I've been dying to see that story told.
