That sounds awesome. I watched an interview with Christopher Eccleston where he said he isn't really a fan of Doctor Who like David Tennant and I think Matt Smith are. I wouldn't mind watching a Doctor Who movie, but I just feel like it wouldn't capture the good parts of the show because it'd have to appeal to a lot more people to make money.

My guess is it would be just a random encounter of a random Doctor, a random girl from London (or America), and the Daleks.

Good news everybody from Moffats twitter account.

To clarify: any Doctor Who movie would be made by the BBC team, star the current TV Doctor and certainly NOT be a Hollywood reboot.
Movie thing: David Yates, great director, was speaking off the cuff, on a red carpet. You've seen the rubbish I talk when I'm cornered.

Well shit, sorry. Links work(ed) for me. I couldn't link/embed the videos themselves so I just linked the articles with them in it. They're the official BBC site videos. Got the link from my boyfriend when we were discussing the Christmas special since it was coming up soon.

Not sure if this has been posted yet, but the Doctor Who facebook page just posted "Steven Moffat announces "The final days of the Ponds are coming during the next series. Then the Doctor will meet a new friend"".

About time. They did kinda wear out their welcome.

I do think both Ponds are awesome, but I am also ready to see what they do with new characters. I really wouldn't mind a length of time with the Doctor and River only.

They could keep Rory and Amy on for another three seasons and I wouldn't mind. The only reason I'd be anxious to see new companions is because it's The Doctor; it's inevitable that he takes a new companion, it's just a question of whom.

The Doctor and River could be cool, it would fit well with the bit about The Doctor coming into River's world knowing all about her, her companion-run could even end with The Doctor giving her the Tenth's screwdriver (leading into Silence in the Library).

But, I don't think River will be the next companion, being kind of a genius Time Lord in her own way, her presence would kind of defy the whole Holmes/Watson dynamic that The Doctor and his companions usually have.

I thought it was Tennant who gave her the Screw driver, not Smith?

The Doctor/River duo dynamic is mandatory for my enjoyment. River's the best character on the show. The notion that her and the Doctor had all these cool adventures without our knowing what they are is just one big Tardis tease.

In Silence in the Library/Forest of the Dead, River revealed her own sonic screwdriver, and later revealed that she would receive it from The Doctor in the future. Toward the end of the two-part, The Doctor surmised the reason he'll give her the screwdriver: he knew her death was coming and gave it to her as a means for the Tenth Doctor to save her in a memory, which is what he did. A short synopsis here.

I wasn't suggesting further adventures without River, that practically insane. I was just suggesting that she not be The Doctor's sole companion.

No I'm being serious. Rory's mopeyness started to rub me the wrong way.

IMO doctor/companion dynamic is best when there is sexual tension.

I just wish he'd be like the other guy (forget what he was called, he had a few cameos on the show back when Rose was still on, and now has his own show) and be bi, and have a male companion

I definitely wouldn't say no to Jack Harkness appearing again. That's one thing that somewhat bugs me since Moffat replaced Davies is just how little continuity there has been as far as characters. I'd love to see a cameo of Martha Jones or Donna's Grandfather.
