I'm not familiar at all with the actor who's been mentioned but i would be hugely disappointed to not see John Simm as the Master. The episodes with him going against David Tennant are some of my favourite episodes. Quite curious as to how the would re-introduce him

seeing as how the last time we saw him he was shot dead and didn't regenerate. We're always lead to believe, unless i've missed something that if a timelord chose not to regenerate then that's it, no more timelord. Especially after the last series, really can't see them pulling something like the Teselector again.

If the rumours are true then i hope this new guy can pull it off cause it will be an amazing series if he does.

unless you mean how the master is resurrected? i can't really imagine them re-using something like that, wouldn't want to either really.

Although i suppose it would be feasible that if the Doctor and Master were to cross paths in different time streams, the same as how the Doctor and River do.

At the end of the finale, The Master launched himself into the Time Lock along with Rassilon and the Time Lord council.

So: shot dead, then resurrected, then trapped in the Time Lock. Assuming he employs the sort of loopholes that the Daleks always manage, there's reason we would see him again, maybe even getting John Simm one last time before Cumberbatch takes the stage.

I need to rewatch The End of Time I guess, I thought The Master was utterly destroyed preventing the Time Lords from getting out/saving the Doctor. If he was sucked into the time lock instead, then, yeah, that's a great way for him to come back through the usual loopholes. I wouldn't mind seeing the time lock itself unraveling (maybe the Master undoing it from the inside) and causing all sorts of shitstorms.
